i'm gonna have to disagree...30 seconds inbetween sets would kill a dancefloor....people don't have to beatmatch to mix, you can mix ambient outro to ambient intro and during that time i've noticed people clap and stuff but no silence..especially 30 seconds...you know how long 30 seconds of silence is at a party???? like..at least a minute lol

Generally I pick my first track as something that transitions nicely and has enough of an intro so I can fade into it smoothly. There's also no reason why people can't clap for the previous dj while your intro is playing...
I would USE the silence in between if I chose to. If I was playing a track with an intro I wanted people to focus on, I might give a few seconds of silence for people to clap, then start.

Where does worship fit in when applauding someone for a job well done and welcoming the next man to the decks.
Trance people are whining bitches, I don't see any big techno festivals crying about technological evolution such as traktor or serato let alone 30 second pauses between acts. They welcome it, the psy scene is a joke when it comes to hipocracy.

Oh and not to mention forgetting what it's all about, who the fuck does trance music nowadays? If it's not death and decay in 190bpm whoremongering ragga dagga madness it's me no speak americano with happy fluffy vb-1 drenched bullshit.
(forgot to take my chillpill today)

^ whoa.
man, i live in the same town as diffuse audio and all i hear from them is how laptop DJs aren't "real" djs.
as for trance, why can't welcoming a new direction to your night of trance be acknowledged? takes me about 2 minutes to find my lil trance groove and then i'm golden, if i wake up for 30 seconds to say "hey, thanks for the moment, good job" i don't think it's going to hurt anything. hell, maybe it'll give you some perspective on what you just thought in your little state of active meditation, before you dive back in.
honestly, i'm fuzzy on what the point of going into trance mode is, these days.
i mean, get alittle peace and quite up in your head, but you can do that by taking a long run, and you don't need to lug around massive speakers for that.

They will make sure to pay their respect to the artist by downloading their last album, no worries.

One of my favorite moments as a dancer and listener is being able to give some love back to someone who just gifted me with an amazing experience.
It's not worship to clap for a bit and give some recognition to a job well done.

if one can't notice the new dj set without a pause, means maybe that both dj play same sounds.
but i know that nowadays you can close your eyes in a party and feel that it's the same dj playing the same track all night long...
first work is for line-up creator: he should know what fits well before or after any dj, live...
second for dj: how about the energy if i make a pause, sometimes it's better, sometimes not.
there's no rules, except crowd pleasure sustain.
i prefer to applause at the end of the party rather than after each dj i like, it breaks the trance for sure (if trance is there
