hi everybody

i'm a dj wannabe... i've been working for the past 3 months in order to get some money to buy the equipment... i have €2000.
I've been asking around and this is my list atm:
Vestax PCV175 mixer
Pioneer CDJ100S cd player (x2)
Behringer Truth monitors

This is for a small studio at home. What's your opinion?

Mixer :
-Pioneer DJM 500
-Pioneer DJM 600

There is no equipment tha will work better and last as long as the Pioneer.

The Cdj´s 100S are great & the Behringer monitors will work great too IMO.

About the Pioneer mixers, i really don't like them. i hate mixers with beat counters!!
Do you really think that buying a CMX3000 dual cd player is better than buying 2 cdj's? because that goes against every other advice i've asked!

The CMX-3000 got way more functions than CD-J100 (100 is a entry level model) & Beat Counters dont really make a mixer good or bad.

PS: The prices are cheapest I could find on internet price search websites.

Check out this post about the monitors http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php?topic=1937&forum=2

Ok, i've tried both, now i see your point
The CMX has loads of functions...
But it's too expensive for me...
Why do you say that the DJM300S is better than the Vestax? It has less 1 channel and less "knobs"(?).
Thanks for the links, i'll take a listen at the Tannoy Reveal Active (same price as the Behringer truth).

I'd go with this combo,

Mixer : Pioneer DJ-M300S
CD Player : Pioneer CMX-3000 OR CD-J100S            "Never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience"

if you are going to use this equipment only at your home i will go with:

2 pioneer CDJ-100S
Mixer: 1 Pioneer DJM-300S
Headphones: Sony MDR-V700 or Technics DJ-1200 (just try them and see what is more comfortable for you, the sony is perfect for me, and the technics is not covering my ears properly, but both are very good).

if you are planning to use the equipment for making parties as well, i will suggest you to go for the bigger pioneer mixer - DJM-500/600, it has effects on it, that you will find usefull + it has more channals options, and is more precise, which is more important if you are connecting it to a party sound system + it has a booth out, for connecting & controling monitor seperatly, which is very important at a party

about the home monitors, i cant help you, i am still looking for a pair, and didnt yet decided what is the best...

good luck,
gkalpakas

I would recommend instead of a pionneer mixer to get a roland dj1000 or dj2000. It does everything that pionner does plus midi clock sync with for audio cds with midi gear. It is a more robust built than the pioneer with sturdier and better feel knobs and faders .
If you dont want the bpm counter then go for an Allen & Heath dj mixer , they have superb audio clarity
