2 x Pioneer CDJ200

1 x Pioneer DJM400 (am thinking of sellling this and getting the 909, but not sure ifit is really worth it)

technics head phones

Taktor DJ Studio but I neverus it any more, it's pure shite compared to mixing with real cd players n' mixer...

am looking for some kind of synthetic drum set or drum maching to use... as well as a basic synth to add my own sounds during mixes...           www.earthcore.com.au

You can make mixing with traktor a lot more interesting if you add a decent midicontroller to it and use an external mixer..

atm i'm trying out an experiment by routing traktor through ableton to add a shitload of more effects with some nice live sampling options..

why go through all the extra effort when I've got some good decks and a mixer? plus to get good quality you need to fork out for a good sound card... lug around a laptop and external mixer... much easier to carry a cd case and use the decks provided at a gig...

And I stare at computer screens enough at work... let alone when I'm mixing... cdjs and a mixer is much more fun... but each to their own... I guess with mp3 downloads becoming more and more mainsteam, mp3 mixing like Traktor will as well...

I just ditch Traktor and use only Live.
For just playing the tracks it's superior IMO....and then you get all the added goodies included in the same package as well.
The warping is more reliable for beat matching and you have unlimited tracks to play around with.
I fail to see the benefits of using Traktor in conjunction, and they would have to be quite substantial for me to consider it as an option.
For a setup that should be used live it's really advisable to not make it more complex than you need.

If you feel more comfortable with the more traditional DJ approach of Traktor maybe you should check out Decadence.
I haven't tried it myself, but at least it does have the features that Traktor is so badly lacking like sampling and VST support.

@Journey Man Project
There is plenty of reasons why it can be worth the extra effort, just as there of course is many reasons why not.
It depends on what you feel comfortable with and what you want to achieve.
There is no doubt that you have a lot more possibilities with a laptop than a pair of CDJ's....but not everyone likes to add samples and do a lot of processing in which case CDJ's will do he job fine.
I don't find a laptop and my BCR heavy to carry really, so IMO that's a moot point.

Also you don't have to stare at the screen hardly at all if you get a mouseless setup.
I only really need to look when browsing tracks, and I do peak at the waveform occasionally when looping and mixing.
But if my screen died it would not be too bad...just take a bit longer to browse the tracks by previewing.

Anyway...to stay on topic I made a small update to my setup.
just after posting last time I noticed that a couple of keys had died on my keypad.
Daughter had been attacking it, and I guess it was too fragile.
Now I found this, which will be just awesome for my purposes:
