i come from vinyl junkey background, still own bout 2500-3000 records/ got tables, cdj's and serrato scratch. but there's only so much u can do with vinyl or cd. laptops on the other hand with right tools and controllers, go far beyond any other traditional way of mixing. way beyond.
in my personal opinion, just use anything that comes in handy....dont limit yourself to one or the other, use all. rock on

Just because your using a laptop doesn't mean that you are not beat-mixing all your tracks.
I started with vinyl, moved to CD's, & now I use my laptop exclusively.
