This topic is broad so I'll just start with a question and I'm sure there'll be other aspects of the promo cd that will come up here.

In general, is it bad practice to play the same set as your promo mix cd at a party?
Let's say you give your mix cd to a promoter and they like it and want you to play at their next party - let's say one hour slot since he's never booked you before - Would you play the same set as your mix cd?
I haven't encountered this, but just curious what your thoughts are.

Thanks

I wouldn't.

I could use same tracks from it, but never make the exact same one.

I think promo cd gives idea to organiser of your skills and style.
so you should keep on same style but i dont think any organiser exepts you to play same set           http://www.myspace.com/polly_potb

I think I couldn't play it again, cause all sets I play goes on the fly;
I never make a plan for a set, only know the bombs (tracks) I have on my case

yeah i would agree with the concensus - dont play the same set again - if there are certain tracks you really dig, feel free to play those again, but definitely try other music as well. if not whats the difference between you playing or your promo cd playing?

just my 2 cents

I don't think the promoter is gonna notice/ care anyway. If he booked you after the promo you gave him he probably liked it.

What I do find very annoying is people that are sending you 'personal' emails (you get the same email to different emailaddresses though..) about their live/dj act, without even checking what you are doing or who you are. I organise parties and on our site it is specifically stated we do not book fast fullon or dark psytrance. Yet still we get loads of crappy emails from people producing/ djíng fullon or dark...
