Hi guys !
What i am looking for is ideally using my computer and an External device to listen to the cue'd track and maybe to crossfade...Some thing like the Hercules Dj console ..but that is too expensive...what say will 2 sound cards and a external mixer do the job ..that way i can cue and listen to the track as well as tweak the trble - mids- lows.....per channeel....any idea's welcome ..
Chers

Been using Traktor and Indigo DJ for over a year and it works beautifully.Plus I added the Evolution Xsession to my setup few month ago (midi external controller).
But you may want to use the 2 outputs of the IndigoDJ as 2 separeted line out plugged into a normal 2channel dj mixer and do all the cueing equing on it as if you using 2 cd decks.

There is a little trick you can do...
Traktor can separate the sound thru 2 soundcards, but only for Main output and "phone" (cue) output... But thats not what you want.
So, here's what you can do: instead of connecting the Cue Output to your phones, just use it as a normal output... You would have in your mixer, something like: Channel 1 -> Soundcard1 - Main Output | Channel 2 -> Soundcard2 - Cue Output.
The only boring part is selecting the Cue mode for the track you are playing on Channel 2, but its no big deal... and you'll be able to Cue from the mixer and use your fingers for Eq'ing

2 soundcards?
Just use the ECHO indigo DJ soundcard.Channel 1-2 to the first CD input of the dj mixer.Channel 3-4 to the second CD input.U controll the start\play\pause from your laptop, and the crossfader, equing etc from the dj mixer.
WHich is what i wrote as secon option on JAN the 4th.
Peace |

tracktor is the answer for software
for soundccard get this one http://www.audiomidi.com/assets/155_A26_back.jpg
and a regular mixer
so in the audio devices setup choose the master outs as 1/2 in the soundcard and the monitors in another output, now, connect those output to any regular mixer with eq knobs and voila! you got a nice dj system
if youre using external mixer theres an option to route the channels in order to play and hear the cue with the mixer, pm me for more info
cheers

Traktor with Evolution X-Session Midi controller is great, no need for any external mixer!
However to get stereo output as well as monitor mix/preview tracks in Stereo you need a Sound Card with 2 sets of channels ie four audio outputs. Version 2.5 does not support two seperate sound cards to do this (I know because I tried), there's lots of USB/Firewire/PCMCIA pro cards that have 4 or more outputs however Sound Blaster have got a new "Platinum Audigy 2 ZS" PCMCIA card that looks like it will do the job just fine without having to pay too much (I have one on order)

its certainly worth the money, but u dont wanna gig around and carry it with u all the time ;-)
Im fed up with my 3.5 KG laptop, and having a small INDIGO dj is just a relief. |
