Hi. Do you know if there exists any kind of DJ program (or a separate program) where you can manage your music collection?
Something that could for example:
- scan your whole music collection through, detect BPM:s and add them as metadata to the tunes so that you can search your music collection with BPM:s (for example you want to see in one list all 147BPM tunes of your collection)
- be able to associate tags and keywords to tunes, (for example "cheesy", "similar to MWNN-Teleport", "good starting tune", "good ending tune".
- a special tag for the key or pitch of the tune
- be able to sort tunes into categories and maybe playlists
give rating to tunes.
- so like to add and manipulate metadata and to complex metadata searches (for example all tunes in category XXX with BPM YYY)
If you know Adobe Lightwave, so I am talking about something similar but instead of photograps the objects are musical tunes and the purpose is listening and/or DJ-mixing.
Some of this functionality is in basic MP3-players (I-tunes, Winamp, etc..), but they are not as flexible and are designed for listening rather than to be a professional DJ tool.

+1 for rapid evolution, great software. HOWEVER the BPM analysis takes fucking FOREVER. FOR - EV - ER. So slow. I have switched to Mixmeister for BPM detection....its freakin fast, and almost always accurate whereas Rapid Evolution gets it wrong a lot of the time.
