I'm looking for a good DJ controller for my girlfriend since she just got into DJ'ing & her b'day is coming up soon.

So far the hercules dj console mk2 looks cool.

Can anyone recommend any other good one's?

P.S Regular midi controllers won't cut it so don't recommend those.

Hmm dunno about the second version of the hercules DJ but the first one was a real let down ... more like a plastic toy than a dj controller ...
I'd better go with a faderfox (the dj2) for starters adding the dx2 to the setup later on ... each costs about 260 euros, they're not usb audio cards like hercules is though ...
Then , i think evolution has a small sized dj controller (x-session i think) and there's also the beast from allen & heath (xone 32) but price goes waaay up haha
N e way it's up to you man
cheers !

Thanks for the recommendations dude. The problem with the fadefox & the x-session is she would need a soundcard too.

I'm looking for something fairly simple so she can mix mp3's on her laptop.

I'm reading mixed reviews of the Hercules, either people love it or hate it so i'm not really sure.           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

^^
Its only $250 so its not a lot, its what i would make in two days flipping burgers here in cheeseland!

So how did you find it when you played around with it? Do the knobs actually feel like a real mixer & can you actually make proper mixes with it? Did you play with the new one or the old one?           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

i played with the mp3 only model(cheaper about 120e).

if u have a pic,the white buttons didnt like them much, the faders are hmmmm good so the knobs!

the thing is that its easy to handle and just for the case..like a toy at home!
to play at ur girlfriends birthday party!

the bcd2000 seems better though!

Found some more controllers..

Kontrol DJ:
http://www.kontrol-dj.com/html_eng/

Xone:3d this one is really sexy but freakin expensive:
http://www.xone.co.uk/3d.htm

The kontrol dj looks nice but at 400 euros it's expensive for what it is..

I read some bad reviews of the hercules, so i'm wondering do you guys think the BCD2000 is the best option for a cheap budget?

Not too sure about the quality of behringer products either but i know some people who've got the BCR2000 & are happy with it..

Lets hope Le barde reads this i know he's got one!          http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

I can't say any of those look very appealing, after a quick inspection. Since the quality of one of these units relies heavily on the "handling" I don't know why anyone would buy such a thing online... I would go test drive something in a retail shop if I were really interested. The response/resolution/feel of the jog wheel or platter is of the utmost importance when dealing with this kind of gear.
