[DJ] CD Players: What to buy, why these, what do you think etc...

have played on 400 few days ago and i must say, that i still prefer 800! playing music since i was 8 my friend DJing since i was 15 ( so 10 years is going to turn this year ) and in this time i have learned something. If there is something you like , something you will comfortable with, something which gets you there...dont you hesitate and get it ( sooner or later ) well.. i started with decks ( technics ) moved to gemini double header and old numark mixer ( with only 2 faders and nothing else ), after that...i started with and ONLY Pioneer brand, which is IMO best on the market.

Anyway..if we leave that stuff behind. I have played on almost every Pioneer deck made and i am fully suporttative to 800. Why? Well, i have told you that in my previous post. Because..its simply build ( only loop mode, good and nice pitch control, big jog deck, nice display / even reverse is too much..also a vinyl mode is too much ) but nevermind about that. This 800 is a player which IMO is best from The Pioneer. The 200s are small for what they have on it. They could be easly compared with 1000s ( too much stuff on it..stuff you dont really need to play a good mash up ) and the 100s..well..they could be simply compared with 800s ( no extra buttons on it ) plaint and simple.

100s : Good old CD player, with good old laser and nice rotor abbility

200s : well... too much knobs at one SMALL player...new DJs would get lost on that deck

400s : totally out of the range.. this is a player which i wouldnt have and wouldnt buy. Vinyl mode on..c-mon...example: "400 XL edition" will have iPOD aswell ( hehehe.. ) , maybe you could play it with mobile phone... This is a player which is no needed really. Design is out and USB ( what about if USB got corrupted when you are heading on a GIG??? what about than? and that is all you have... THE CDs are still TOP NOTCH!!! I dont trust USB stuff what concirns playing tracks and leaching tracks out of them..NO WAY JOSE )

1000: TOP NOTCH player..really nice and smooth, good one and wonderfull But why to have it..if i could have 800 for my needs but 1000 is an enormous "cow" )

Among the problems:
- When playing MP3s off of USB, you are locked out of some of the pitch ranges, and master tempo is disabled.
- MP3s take a while to load (off of USB)
- The beat-based effects rely on auto-detecting BPM, so if it doesn't detect the BPM right, you can't use them.
- You can't do spinbacks, it'll run out of buffer and the sound will stop. People don't usually do spinbacks when mixing psy but I mix other genres of music so this comes up as a problem

I just played with them last weekend and it really sucked donkeyballs. they should put a jog adjust on it....the feel of pitchbending is totally wrong for me, which doesn't mean other people would do well with these machines. for the rest they ain't better or worse then other pioneer decks
