Moonshadow is a classic psytrance mix originally composed for the Global Goa Party, a virtual event conceived to create the soundtrack for a full night (and morning) of old-school Goa trance by ten DJs from all over the world. The rules were simple: record a mix with music that would have been heard on the dance floor in 1999. I snapped up the 12:30 to 2:00am time slot and spent weeks scouring my collection for the right stuff to hasten the journey into darkness and lunacy. Naturally, this exercise aroused great nostalgia for my own initiation into psytrance culture sometime in 1997 or 1998. Since many of my earliest memories of partying in Toronto were formed at events thrown by the Moonshadow collective I decided to dedicate this mix to DJ Dam, Cyber G, Yohimbe, John Dee, and everyone else who was there in the beginning. Recorded at Ilum Studios, B.C.

OH YES!!!
thank you basilisk!!! this is some seriously great stuff... i'd really like to listen to more of your mixes if you got any... specifically i'd like to see what a morning set you compile (from the oldies) would look like - you really are a connoisseur of fine trance

Only thing this mix needs is more Flying Rhino.
Great set.

Nice to see download available in FLAC. Many tend to overlook it but good quality is much appreciated.

If I'm booked to play a classics set that's what you'll hear
I've had such a wonderful response to this set that I think I will try to record a few more from different time periods of the past... honestly this music fills me with such love and amazement, it's hard not to want to go back to it!

basil you go and do just that... you have a great taste and by judging the essentials section on ektoplazm - a big range to choose from... id be really happy to see what you can do form the earlier years (95-97) esp. cydonia/TIP/prana/doof and the lesser known stuff... on another note i'd love to listen to a morning goa set by you too - tho it seems you are into the darker stuff (which is awesome... agressive night time goa trance is hardly played at goa parties here) |

This is the music right here. This was it. Now I know why I was so immersed and got so much out of it. Related it to spiritual experience even.
