hi, i have a simple question,
when you bounce a track, for example a bass to minimize cpu power,
do you check the dither box or you don't use dithering for single tracks?
I know you need to dither when converting 24 bits to 16.
but I think some plugins are 32 bits. I don't know Logic.
and what dithering option u use?

thanks

I'm pretty sure the signal is 24bit from the begining. So I don't think dithering is necessary. Same reason why you can't import 32bit float audio files into Logic.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

I never dither down individual tracks. I dither the main mix when I do my own rough mastering to burn audio CDs. The mastering engineer will probably have something with better dithering algorithms. proper mastering engineers will ask for a 24bit version of the track anyway.

Depends on the material. But if you can't hear it, don't bother with dithering.           >>> FOR SALE: Mac-clone OSX86 Audio Workstation <> Perfect computer for Logic 9 Pro <<<

i think you don t need to dither but i m not really sure,i guess it could make a light difference on the sound of a track if all bounce are dithered but for the better or worst? it s the question and i doubt it make a big difference anyway, haven t checked the manual but maybe there is something about it (maybe there is a automatic dither, it could be possible as the audio engine is 32 bit float and bounces are 24 bit )
i don t understand much about all that but from what i read on some manuals and what pro say we could benefit to use dither from 32 bit float to 24 bit.(what dithering algo to use is another question )
