i creat many diffrent kinds of base line the are all clean and sound good. but the only way i find out to really fatten them in the end and give them the voosh! is doing QuadraFuzz and adding alot to the EQ of the Low & LowMid.
im sure there are better ways, and let me just say i put the quadra fuzz after i SideChain compress with the kick and i build the base in modular. and still the only way i find to really boost it up so ppl can actualy feel it is quadrafuzz. will it be better if i just add a good distortion effect to my bass, and what other good waysu know to boost up the baseline in the end besides Quadrafuzz, cause i feel like im using an old dead trick here guys... thx |

you can use so many things.
qudrafuzz is a multiband distortion plugin
so what else you can use, some other distortion unit maybe, all have their own character.
if its an old dead trick you wouldnt use it? cause it works, so you use it.. therefor its not dead
you can try other types of FX, like tubes and chours... or why not some bitcrushing for dirty bass...
possibilities are almost endless, hehe, cause the FX are just one part of the job...

Don't use distortion, use PSP Vintage Warmer and proper EQing..
If this doesn't fatten the "base" up, you just need a better bass tone in the first place.

quadrafuzz is ok for distortions.
also antres tube is cool VST.
another way to fatten your bass is to use compressor.
keep it clean & loud |

lf-punch from voxengo does the trick for me. a combination of 2 eq's (one to control the signal before it hits the compressor and one to sculpt the final sound) usually is enough for getting fat low end in combination with lf-punch. the final eq is likely a colouring one like sonalksis or any other plug I can find that sounds good.
a little bit of distortion right at the synth stage is all I do in my case. so no quadrafuzz for me.

ok u guys so i see its preety much putting a good compressor or distortion in the end... now i wanna focous here for a second on the EQ, usualy i just look for noisy dirty frequencies and notch them down, and im really afraid of boosting up frequencies in EQ stage....and even more safraid of boosting low freq cause i hear alot of pro's, saying there is no need to boost in EQ if uknow... ur doing it all right.... but i wonder if u base line is exceptional cause some times when i boost in EQ for example the 70Hz it gives a good voosh ound to the base but again... thisfrequncy is so much boosted usualy in the synth stage and othe stages that it seems unnecesary and dirty to do so in EQ... whats ur though on that guys? |
