Funny no one has mentiones this release, being the discovery v2 one of the most abused softsynths in psytrance (at least by me!)
It does have some interesting new features, it now loads wav samples .. is this kinda trying to anticipate the Nord Wave?,, anyone knows about this Clavia Synth??

The lack of enthusiasm ur seeing is coz the discovery series is a pale shadow of the nord lead 2x. There's an internet movie linked somewhere on isra.
Im not sure whether discovery pro is any better, but it sounds very similar to me.

Some affirmed producers said it sucks compared to Nord and in general..
Personally I really like it and its way better than the old version, a big leap in pro version.. I have nord fxb, havent used it still..
disco is a killer, I avoided use of previous disco but this one is in top rows of my arsenal now.. All good

well then this new discovery pro is a pale shadow of the Clavia Nord Wave. Not Nord Lead. Anyone here has a Nord Wave? im very curious about this hardware synth.           www.soundcloud.com/elektroakustica/sets/downtempo/

I'm not using the disco as much as I used to. I have the pro and yeah, it's louder.... Way louder, but it' doesn't seem as clean as I remember it being before. I tend to use synth 1 if theres a tone that I can't get on the Nord, but I want a nordy type sound, either that or Reaktor...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

I have no idea whether its as good as a nord lead or nord lead 2, (or even ffs a nord wave - they never tried to compare it.) what I do know is that it is capable of some very nice sounds.

I've been using it recently, and (when you've got your head around the interface which can be confusing) its got some great tones, filter is really good and its generally quick to dial in the tones you want.

CPU usage is high, but its worth it for the filter.

I don't really see that comparing it directly to a nord is all that valid - it isn't the same, but its more then good enough to be evaluated on its own merits.

The wave function is interesting, you can get some interesting attacks with a certain prepacked wave that I'm thinking of, but the modulation and routing capabilities are limited.

Basically, I like this synth a lot.

dudes. the reason I say its a pale comparison is because of the
Nord Modular G2 demo v1.40.zip
find it on the nord site. Its a cpu killer but it really shows how much superior hardware dsp routines are to discovery.

But this isn't a nord modular... its like comparing chips with hamburgers.

I work on results - and this synth can give you good results - the rest is irrelevant.           .

Why dont we back this up with a blind A B test with both synths (Nord and Discovery). to see if some can tell them apart in a mixed track scenario. what do ya think??           www.soundcloud.com/elektroakustica/sets/downtempo/

there is already an a/b test with them, just search on youtube.
And as speakafreaka already wrote, discovery shouldn't be a clone, it has just the same architecture.

i own both and nobody of them sound BETTER, they just sound DIFFERENT.           http://soundcloud.com/seamoon

I think its pointless doing a blind a b test...

They both sound good - but different. Whats the issue here? Whats the difficulty in admitting that this synth sounds good?

Can we do a blind A B test on how hard each one eats your bank account or desktop real estate or how well it integrates into your sequencer...

come on, get serious. They are inherently completely different solutions - why compare at all? I'd like to own ALL of the above mentioned synthesizers, safe in the knowledge that they would all offer something different.
