Hey guys!
So i finally decided to join my first production contest!
And who's better to start with than my favorite producers DIRTY BEAT!?
I'm so glad i was invited.
And now, for the insanely hard part. combining MY style, with their style. In this track they've used a really weird rootnote and choice of melodies except for the reggae influenced sections.
I need your ears for a bit on this, and by that i mean REALLY.
If you listen to this

Does something seem off? am i doing something entirely wrong here? Should i possibly make the melodies evolve more into the ones in the later section, would that do the trick? :s
Here's the original track as well if you're curious about it.

I really like the track, you've got a very powerfull style!
The only think I feel to complain is about the snare, actually it fits well until 1:31 IMO.
Good luck with the contest

Thanks for the feedback man!
The snare is ironically probably what i like the best regarding my whole percussion set ._.
But maybe i should go for a shorter snare? I think maybe it's mudding up the whole percussion since it's both quite bright as well as kinda long?
And, thanks. I'm concidering to possibly just scratch the whole last climax. And make something that "sounds like" it's from the original. #derp

Listening again, fucking lovely track mate! Well yes I just would go with a shorter snare but totally up to you, doesn't sounds bad, I just feel it a bit out of place, cheers bro!

Hahaha thanks!
And i agree, i think the reason for it sounding a bit out of place, is that the bass notes are.. actually kinda short. So a shorter snare probably will make the whole stuff more groovy.
I like the way you think!
because usually, i stick with long hard snare drums.
