hey guys, i also was very impressed of a melodyne video and couldnt wait to get my fingers on it... so i downloaded melodyne about 2 months ago to test it out... it couldnt read a CLEAR LFOŽed saw melody.
and the timing gets fucked up in the mix if you change anything at the melody with it (i tried it with voices), and if you pitch it, it sounds crapie, same like an pitchwheel... i was amazed of the clear pitching 1 oktave voice in the vid i saw... but it sucked by testing it out
but! i just spended about 1hr, anyone got good results with it? and what did you do?

i use it very often -and for one year now- at the recording studio i work, and i must say that it's BETTER than the videos. it's very accurate.
the reason that it didn't work for you, it's that u used an LFO'ed SAW melody.
i suppose melodyne's is mainly made/written for natural instruments, drums and of course voice. (i have tried some times to process a distorted bass guitar and it was not 100% accurate)
but again, why would anyone correct synth/electronic melodies written in/controlled by absoolute midi ? so why would melodyne do so too ?

yes thats true, i did it because i wanted to test it out^^ thats why i took a voice sample after... and it could read the notes.
but if i do any editing with melodyne the timing is fucked up... and there are some confusing "timing options" that dont does anything^^

i use it mostly as a VST eg. at the vocal channel
so everything is on grid no timing fuckups
