I am thinking of buying a third pair of comparison speakers for another room to compare my productions. Would it make sense to buy monitors or would it be better to go for hifi speakers? I already have cheap ass logitech pc speakers.

What do you guys think? Get monitors to hear details or get a system that isnt trying to be flat? My first monitors are dynaudio's bm6a mk1 so they don't need upgrading           soundcloud.com/supergroover

Or a singe Mono speaker?

Would give you a wider range of sound styles..

1) Studio Monitors
2) Cheap Stereo PC Speakers
3) Really good moo source

'dem Mono-Cube thingies.. ?

i would think of the "yamaha NS10 Studio", they are in nearly every popular studio used as reference. (only secondhand)

if you want to know why, check this out:

its all about the money , there certainly are speakers to whom the Dynaudios bm6a (that I know very well btw) are just interesting second pairs.
..as well as the room you would like to use them in of course.

I am not planning to do any monitor upgrade any time soon. T would make more sense to get my accoustics treatment straight. Just want another pair of speakers to do some comparisons.

Mono sounds like a good idea although I don't know if there are still places that have mono soundsystems.

Might go for the adams! Don't feel like spending that much. But i ll have a look into it.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

if you have monitors my opinion is to get a nice pair of hi fi speakers and a good amp... that you can also use on your tv.

good thing about hifi is that they give totaly different view on your music than your monitors.           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

How´s about just one pair of speakers that are truly accurate? they do exist and eliminate second guessing. That comes at a price, but with research you can find a good deal. My version of a good deal might be different from yours. A pair of dunlavy sc-iii (or higher) with hypex amps would fit that bill.
but ok like i said my reference is perhaps out of your budget.
Mostly a US thing though as the guy never was any good at marketing across the pond. Well that is my reference for precise monitoring. Anything recently made will cost way, way more to attain and might not even provide the same precision.           Mastering available here:

dunno never heard the new adam, about the topic i would use a second pair in the same room, one pair close to you for carreful tweaking ,and one pair as middlfield will show you the over all sound, balance better.
i use more than one pair myself , if you use them close to the same place ,the room will affect both monitors a bit the same it won t be very much helpfull..but one pair as nearfield the other as middle field work great...
if the room is ok it s not really needed to check at other places on different speakers , if it s not treat it better/find a better position before adding a new pair of monitor imo

i have just one pair of dynaudio bm5a end no other reference in my house.... just my 15$ in ear cell phone headphones.

i really want a good set of hifi its really revealing how mixes sound on them.
specially the bass... in kbbb basslines if overlaping occurs they are the first to tell you since it will sound like offbeat if the bass notes/duration overlap.

+ they are easy end pleasant to listen to.. its good after hours of studio monitor harshness.

i miss my tdl speakers and nad 302 amp.
