I think Shiranui makes sense. Actually I was about to write a similar thread here. I mean with mastering you can of course work with the dynamics but you cannot remove reverb or delay from a mix.

It sounds that it makes sense to do a very dry mix for venues that are very echoey or have bad acoustics.

Do artists do these things..?

I would also be interested if you have some good plugin for simulation acoustics of various environments (e.g. hall, valley, small room, etc..). I mean a very realistic and accurate reverb but where you can in addition set position of sound sources (speakers), position of listeners and you would get from your monitors the sound that the listener perceives from that position.

hmm i dont knw if u have tried convolution reverb plug ins...say if u want any particular room osund say a club which u really like it in terms of its acoustics the just go there and record the sound with the help of microphone..it might be any thing say just a hand clap will do..or the best way by producing a sine wave tone and record it and feed it into these convolution reverb plug in and it will use ur recording as a preset everytime u apply the reverb on any of ur sounds it will sound exactly hw that sound would sound like in taht particular club...

I noticed that in parties the tracks are more minimal. Usually just the bass, kick, a bit of percussions and lead synth.
I noticed that the tighter the track, the harder they dance...           www.myspace.com/johnnybgoodmusic

i think the only thing on this subject that should be mattered is stereo and mono compatibility..

although less and less thay are still occasions that you will find yourseff behind a mono club/live/outdoor setup.

the think to consider is that at least the main groove and hook elements should be hearable in any pa.           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

a other thing to consider is that one part of the dancefloor only hear the left chanel and a other part only the right chanel if it s stereo, it s not the same as cheking mono compatiblity
