Interested in the ways to write both, find Psy to be just the bass line, without the continuous lead; yet still unsure.           www.wizanda.com www.soundcloud.com/wizanda

I couldnt agree more, especially ones who really understand musical theory, who can advance the genre.

Agree, ones who understand rhythm progression, especially on a djembe, where it trance forms as it progresses.           www.wizanda.com www.soundcloud.com/wizanda

One aspect that has certainly changed over the years is that Original Goa Psy Trance was also about flying notes and scales .
And lots of mystic atmospheres.
Something you dont have that often nowadays in the usual Psytrance composition of nowadays.
I think exceptions are rare.

Goa have more long phrases, more emotional stuff...mystic timbres, epic melodies...

Actual Psytrance are a lot percussive imo, all stuff are percussive, also the leads many times are doing percussion job..

I love when someone try to mix that oldschool atmosphere with new techniques and skins...
Like Liquid Flow, and some others of Suntrip...

I try to do this also with my music

Goa never die, is the mother of all trance...

Psytrance is music that you think about

Goa is music that you just FEEL

Psytrance makes you think about all kinds of things... some good, some bad

Goa doesn't make you think at all. It makes you stop thinking and just BE

imho psytrance is the most common word for all the subgenres. So, goa style is a part of psytrance           http://soundcloud.com/aedem

Id say the opposite, that psytrance came from goa.

of course psytrance has evolved from goa. i'd still place psytrance (with it's subgenres such as progressive, fullon, darkpsy, ...) together with goa in a "psy" category. back then both terms were often used interchangably.

that's a nice video explaining the difference using the example of an old and a new cosmosis track.

imho goa>>psytrance
