just listen to a progressive track and than listen to full on
and you'll hear the difference

progressive music is usualy much slower, has much more bass and less noisy, more repetetive and rythmic, without too many changes

Maingenre Psychedelic/Goa Trance

Subgenre.: Progressive Psy (more laidback psychedelic trance, slower, not in your face)
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/dom/dom1cd007.html

Subgenre.: Full On Psy (Fast moving psy, in your face riffs & melodies, lots of energy, but often not that psychedelic, more energetic)
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/dv3/dv31cd020.html

Subgenre.: Dark Psy - Mixture of Full On & Psy Tech ("darker" sound, always full of energy and aggression)
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/pav/pav1cd007.html

Subgenre.: Psy Tech, Psychedelic Techno / Tech Trance.
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/gtn/gtn1cd101.html

Subgenre.: Psy Chill - Free genre, chillout/ambient within the psychedelic scene.
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/twi/twi1cd004.html

Subgenre.: Psygressive - A mix between full & progressive.
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/yse/yse1cd046.html

Subgenre.: Forest/Wacko Trance - Very Psychedelic and Fucked up, like Dark Psy twice as psychedelic.
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/ime/ime1cd010.html

Subgenre.: Nitzonot/Israeli Trance/Melodic Goa Trance - Super Cheesy & Melodic Psychedelic Trance.
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/sut/sut1cd002.html

we can then go on and on into different niches of sound....

Best Wishes

you're not really gonna find the answer here in this thread! you'd have to listen to em both to really know what the difference is!

intresting philosophy dude!
again i say...isra is imo mostly made up of people who have an undying passion for music, it does not matter if ure a loser or not!(p.s here 'loser' also refers to your philosophical opinion.) most of us are in general open minded n peace loving, which is n added advantage!

cheers!

Everyone knows what progressive sounds like and what full on sounds like, but if you play progressive a little fast it doesnt magically become full on and if you play full on slow it doesnt become progressive. So what exactly are the differences, in musical terms that describe the physical layout/sonic properties of the music. I know the difference when I hear it but am hard pressed to say precisely what that difference is.
Question deserves more thought than ppl are giving it tho Ron Lyner gave the most useful answer.

full on generally has a bass sound on every 16th note or nearly. the sound of the bass in progressive is much wider, deeper and phatter...same with the kicks. progressive longer kicks full on more of a slap in the face short reverse kick style. these are all generalizations obviously but thats all i have to say about this right now.           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.
