experimenting with diffrent beats is great and it`s good to c someone`s trying to make tracks with a beat other than 4/4 or 3/4 or 6/8 the problem working with 7/8 9/11 and its kind is difficult of sevral reasons . up until now we got use to hearing tracks which r 4/4 or 3/4 and our ears and minds r used 2 it it`s a matter of getting u`r mind and ear used to uncimetric weights try listening to arabic music and eastren( asian that is) music u`ll b amazed of the groove they can lay on some very strange weights. most of the ppl i know that deal with such beats usually make breakbeat or drum `n` bass or any other electronic music which has breaks and isn`t trance. good luck guy....... even if it doesn`t work out at least u`ll get more knowledge and a deeper understanding on 'beats and grooves'. (what a name 4 a groovy tracks collection). and may the swarts b with u! |

True, non 4/4 beats can be very screwy to dance with in trance style music...
But if you're interested in these more ellaborate rhythms, try using them on your melody lines, whilst leaving an obvious 4/4 to the floor beat in the background.
The combination rocks... it's starts coming around in nice multiples of bars... 3/4 melodies over 4/4 beats loop together at 12 bars...
