I was going to purchase a DI box to eliminate a ground loop issue I got with my BM6A monitors and my studio gear. I was browsing and I noticed a large selection and price range. Does anyone have experience with using these things? Can I get a cheap one just to use for the ground life feature and have my problem solved?
I understand that the quality of the transformer is key for audio. But if the DI box is JUST used as a ground lift, does it matter?
Thank you

Hi,
in case you are using TRS (symmetric) Cables you could try to apply a ground lift. Stimply cut the shilds of the cable that only hot and cold stays connected. That solved some hums here in my studio.
Good luck

I have heard this but is this safe. Is there any possible adverse effects to audio or my monitors from doing this??? If so, yaaaaaayyyyyy, I am doing this tonight. |

Your much better off getting a hum eliminator than a DI box to lift the ground. Hum eliminators now come in both audio cable & power cable flavors. Seems to me the power adapter version is most ideal.
