At last..the eagerly awaited debut album 'DETONATOR' by MIRACULIX', finally hit the shelves last week on 'ALCHEMY records'.
01-mental detector 7.15
02-stop them 7.20
03-double trouble 8.04
04-sundance 8.02
05-reactor 7.14
06-motion potions 7.50
07-witchcraft 8.03
08-alone in the dark 7.31
09 creatures 7.13
Anyone even slightly familiar with Miraculix will recognise the sounds coming from their speakers immediatley..! Thomas has (in a relativley short space of time) - forged for himself a definate niche in the PsyTrance soundscape.!...quite simply... nothing else sounds like this album and this album sounds like nothing else...!!! Its MIRACULIX ( and he does it oh so well ) -
There is no mistaking HIS sound..(SciFi... or is it Psy-Fi!)... 'outter-space', 'aliens' and 'PsyTrance' seem inseperable to this man !
01-mental detector: The opening track slides you straight in to the Miraculx groove... with alien ships, SciFi squirts and the trademark 'verbe'd Pads ... slighty menacing.. offset by its fat, warm production... the theme of the Album is declared..!..
02-stop them: A summer dance floor smasher this one... If you didn't know this was Miraculix you've been dancing too.. ya do now..! ..enough said
03-double trouble: with a lower bottom end and lighter, drifty melodics above the miraculix-squirts, a more contained track... this is the space to take your last big gulp of air before ...
04-sundance: '!*BaNg*!'... Miraculix as I know and Love.. big, fat, sinister, comical, weird animal sounds (is that an elephant..
05-reactor:... nice track all round this... (can you 'not laugh' at the sample?).... production is excellent and, although it feels a drop down from 'sundance' on BMP & psychedelia;... the consistency of the track keeps your attention and interest..
06-motion potions: notched back up a gear..this is aptly named...'motion' is the result of this track.... very dancable...typically Miraculix... squirty, psy-Fi and fat.... big bassline and stompy kick...twisting at the end to become quite acidic & dark.. he he ...nice.!
07-witchcraft: Staying big and stompy.(placed nicely after motion potions); continues the 'fat'..(or is it 'PHAT') darkness and more twisted side of Miraculix... it doesnt quite go mad.... more of a 'bridled madness'... definatley another one for the night time groovers..!
08-alone in the dark:... the direction of the latter half of the album is most definatley maintained with this track....above the fat darkness.... a lighter melodic pad keeps your head above the maelstrom.....clarity of squirts and production quality will fill any space... indoor or outdoor (and for me Miraculix is Soooooo outdoor)
09 creatures: As the sky lightens and the journey ends... 'creatures' redirects your head and feet to the earth..! No more aliens, no more space flight, no more orbiting the dancefloor.....After a 'begining' comes an 'ending'.....Thomas releases you from his Psy-Fi grip very softly....a dropped tempo and a more 'spacial' atmospheric.. all good things must come to an end.

Overall an excellent debut Album. Miraculix has carved his place in the soundscape that is Psychedelic Trance. Having found his own style and sound - 'DETONATOR' proclaims it to the world.
To be as 'objective' as possible.... some may say that his 'pallet of colours' (sounds) are small and his 'pictures'(tracks) contain only a limited number of variations.... but to be fair.. its the way he uses his 'colours' when he paints his pictures'..! Most Excellent.!

'DETONATOR' is available in the Shops now... Go get it..... or miss out !!

most definitely the next CD I'll get(as soon as Chaos gets it in stock), and also most definitely a typical Monastic Squid review hehe

yeah Stop Them has already appeared on Digital Tribe, but I don't care cos it is a favourite of mine: reminds me of dancing around outside at the Liquid Connective party earlier this summer.....

This is a superb album for the dancefloor.

Miraculix tracks can fit in every dj's set and can be used in every occasion.
The guy has his own style and sounds, full on at its best.

The album starts with a rather average track but after that the party begins.

The second track Stop Them is a dancefloor hit and has some very nice samples in it,one of the best tracks in this album.

Double Trouble and Sundance are two very nice danceable tracks and i especially liked the second one because of its nice rythm and kicks.

Then comes Reaktor which for me is the best track in this album,it has amazing backround melodies, samples and beat, this one is a killer.

Next there is Motion Potions,an average track where i couldnt find anything much interesting in it.Its not a bad track but its one of the two tracks that i enjoyed the least from all nine tracks in this cd.

Witchcraft is an average night track, maybe it sounds better in a club with not many lights in it where the atmosphere would be more appropriate.

Alone In The Dark is also a night atmospheric track that tries to be a little scary also.It contains some nice samples in it and some nice fx sounds. This is a good one and i would like to hear it on the dancefloor.

Last there is Creatures which is the track that i liked the least in this cd.It sounds old fashioned and i dont think that much effort was putted in this one, nothing interesting here at all.

Overall this is a suprising debut cd from Miraculix with 2 killer tracks in it (Reaktor and Stop Them) and 2 other dancefloor hits (Double Trouble and Sundance). The rest of the tracks are average and it has only one bad track in my opinion which is the last track of the album,Creatures.
I will recomend this album to everyone because as i said in the begining most of the tracks here ought to be in every dj's collection and can be played anytime.
I wish good luck to Miraculix and i cant wait to hear to his new upcoming stuff from Alchemy Records.

Again special thanks to Shane Gobi for this album.Keep up the good work lad.

P.S I forgot to mention that this album has one of the best covers that i have ever seen.

Awww man, I've talked with the guy and warmed up for him, but didn't stay for his live-set. Got the album, and I must say it's great. Has a kinda Logic Bomb-sound to it, still his own style... I like it a lot, and do agree that many of the tracks can be well-used for a dj-set

This is a nice album from Miraculix...nice full on feeling. But i think he uses too much of the same sounds! For me i would like some more variation, but it is a good album!!

Yeah... an amazing album... one of my best in 2002... shame the new one doesn't live up to half of what Detonator was :/           How am I supposed to hallucinate with all these swirling colors distracting me!

I think that this disk is one of the very best creations in the whole trance music expirience. It is MASTERPIECE in the all meanings of psy-trance. After endless of listenings to it I don't see any objections. I try to listen to it right after many other disks to check how it will sound in comparision. There were Classical Mushroom & IM the Supervisor by Infected Mushroom, Hallucinate by Yahel, Temporary Insanity by Xerox & Illumination, Punishment by Void and many many more even Shpongle. And this disk didn't loose its 'strength' and attractivity.

It take us on the board of spaceship what floating in alien space sector. But its crew is not contact aliens yet and they use Mental Detector device to scan the space. Mental tension is going higher and higher and empressive minds of crew members starts to imagine different alien worlds. And the critical point of their fantasies is a question: can we Stop Them? Detecting is in process and some strange things are begin to occur around the spaceship and its crew. Thing are going to turn in to the trouble, Double Trouble. One moment the locators begin to translate very strange signal and... wow! they can see it even through the bull's-eyes on the board. What is it? Some strange pieces dance their Sundance in the rays of nearby stars... How beautiful are they in their primal dance right in the vacuum space of deep cosmos! All the people aboard are stick to monitors in the deck-cabin. And (how it often happens in the
alien-movies) there is sudden ALARM! People in panic and problem with Reactor in the stern of the ship. Energizing the whole situation problem cause activity of the men aboard. Problem not solved and they have to use their best chemistry drug for situations alike - Motion Potions. While the heavy work of unity of all members of the ship-crew begin to move them from the critical point and when the victory in such harsh conditions is near... new disaster of what they don't even think has come Whitchcraft of unknown race cloak in their spaceship and there is no more any connection with ramaining fleet and planetary forces. Next time the commander turn to his piloting devices he (and then all other men) recognize that they are completely Alone In The Dark from now. They also reconize that all that they can do is NOTHING. To set all thier hopes upon God is their only way to live some next moments before they face the Creatures

Sorry for such far-from-music review but it is the way as I imagine the whole situation the disk is about. It is tremendous disk and I hope that Miraculix will release many such masterpieces (I need to confess you I don't listen to Arrival yet cause I'm simply afraid , but with no doubt I will).

I wonder where the sample: very peculiar creature, do not approach it... comes from. Its a very funny voice on this track.
But i love this cd, recently bought for 5 euros But in knew the sound from years ago en it brings back the memories.
