hi i have the emu 1820.
my specs:
p4 3ghz
1 gig of ram
emu 1820 sound card
m-audio 5" monitors
fruity loops 4.5
i was having a great time for a few straigt hours working on a track. things were going pretty well. at somwe point fruity started to lag, a lot, i figured it was just from the imense amount of vsts i was running.
i turned the computer off and a few hours later i come back and no sound. i look at the audio dock and see that it is off.
i restarted afew times, checked the conections, checkd the device manager and the bios, none of which proved helpfull.
what to do????
help!!!!

Do you have general xp sounds like doings etc?
Check the soundcards mixer on system tray to see
if something was muted my mistake.
If not check the preferences of Fl in case it lost the driver setting.
If this isnt ok then,
check the settings->control panel->sounds and audio devices.
Your card shoud appear there.
If not then remove the driver and reinstall the card again using right click on My Computer->properties-> hardware->device manager

u poor israeli... 2 years of forced military duty... u must be really depressed to actually like going in the army...
have u checked the warranty? Maybe they can fix it for free? In most companies, if there's a service center in ur country, it shouldn't take much more then 4 weeks to repair it and get it back to you... Have u called the technical helpdesk? Most of the time they aren't much help, but they can give u information about repair-service and warranty and such. |

i will take this oppurtinity, (and i think i will dedicate a full post to it) to praise e-mu's technical support, wish is extermly quick, proffesional and considerate.
they gave me the fealing somone was behind me in what is one of the most depressing situations i've encountered recently thank you e-mu.

FREGLE,
just because you mention it, there are lots of unhappy e-mu users.
Mostly because since they were bought by creative they stopped giving support for old stuff.
Some people (me included) bought e-mu ultras to later upgrade to options like the RFX card.
Well the RFX went out buggy (to a point were you can't use it) and they took it back from market without fixing any bugs.
Also, OS 7.1 (i think thats the correct version), the one with FAT file system support came out buggy and got out from theit site without being fixed
Now, were talking about very expensive stuff... months of work to pay for
At least, they should release the emu OS software as Open-Source (not likely, since it's mostly whats used on their new cards) for us, musicians/developers to fix it, since there is a very BIG e-mu user base...
Sooo... at least in a near future, i won't be buying any Creative or Emu stuff... they can't be trusted.
Also Creative has recently been in court for not offering the same features they advertise on their consumer cards...
  roll a joint or STFU :) |

in that case it's going to become even worse, cuz creative can build great hardware, but i never found a driver for a creative machine that did the job decently, in fact, the driver i use for my SBlive is made by one person, completely free on his own time, and kicks the ass of every driver i ever downloaded from creative... because of that i don't buy creative anymore, it's no fun to have power but no way of using the power because the drivers suck donkey balls... |
