This topic came to me from reading a bunch of other interesting threads around here.
If you had to design a party... how would you go about it? what don't you want to see happen? i would appreciate people's input on what they actually would like to see happen and dont see it often or at all. what makes you happy? what makes you remember a party? what makes you leave the party, take a deep breath and say: "wow this was something i'll never forget" as that permanent smile cannot be wiped off well into the ride home. 
1. What sort of venue?
2. What sort of decorations?
3. How much would you pay?
4. What sort of line up? many dj's? few dj's?
5. Food and beverages at the event?
6. Party freebees, what is your favorite kind?
7. Seating areas? chillout sections?
basically these are all just suggestions, i'm sure some of you can think of more things i havent mentioned here. Please give me your thoughts, perhaps some organizers will read this and in turn our scene can be improved further (no complaints about it)

1. Outdoors - Woodland preferably, like the beach too. Somewhere you can see a nice sunrise is good.
2. Not too much. A couple of backdrops, bit of UV and maybe other lights and strobe. Nature in a beautiful place is the best decoration. It's nice to have something to brighten up the night though...
3. Free.
4. Don't care who the DJ's are, as long as the music is good. Cool to have more than one system, playing different styles of music.
I think a soundsystem that sounds fantastic (the bigger the better as well) is really important. Sound can do funny things to you! A bit of live percussion is cool as well.
5. As many and as varied as people can get together.
6. Fresh fruit is always nice, replaces lots of the nutrients that dancing and other things take away. Not so fussed about freebies, would rather just not see people trying to make extortionate profit as seems to happen at so many parties these days.
7. Seating areas? The great outdoors is theatre enough. If the venue is nice you can just wander off and find a cool place to sit and chill out...
And the party should go on until it burns itself out... no time limits. 5 days of trance and techno (not to mention dn'b, deep house, dub) and no sleep is the longest I've done...
Hey... sounds just like the parties we used to do back in the UK... pity they're not so often like that now...

1.)Outdoors - That's one of the most important things. An incredible beautiful place in nature , maybe with a lake, or some kind of water.
2.) Decoration is more important for the indoor parties, but a bit around the stage wouldn't hurt
3.) Depends, - I would like a two days party. Of course if everything would be perfect, I would be willing to pay as much as I can afford.
Definitely a chill out section ( I mean a chill out stage)

Venue - any suitable location preferable hills out doors obviously
decor-lots of black light and psyhedelic bckdrps
entry -just to cover expenses 
theme - a peace war of two or more killer djs playing one track aftr another to pick other ones beat and putting it on a higher plinth each time .
Crowd - as many psyheads pssble
beverages-lots of free water around , carry ur own booze if want .
CENTER zones with community Chillums BIG ONES NEVER LOW ON FUEL
clear sky for the stars to watch us .
Prefer two day scene , Yes as technoid says fresh fruits .
I ALWAYS DREAM OF IT .............
To focus sometimes you need to spin hard on your soul's axis..... just don't ask how and what it means ;) |

1 - on the swiss alps. plain beautiful.
2 - "let the nature be our decoration"
3 - not too much. in the perfect party all dj's/live act play for free and the money goes to some charity project for children.
4 - ony 2 3 dj's with long sets and 1 live act
5 - oriental, vegetarian food. ice cooled water and beer.
6 - fresh fruit yes! and free bread and different juices for breakfast.
7 - chill out for sure. but lets sit on the grass ok?
specials: chillum sharing (from organizers), and all the electric power should come from the sun (theres an interesting article about a "sun-party" in the mushroom mag). and a biiiiig pot full of cold water to put your head into.

Venue - On a tropical island, with palm trees and white sand beach. Birds in the sky and a warm sun on your skin. You hear the waves splash on the beach...
Decorations - Hang some psy longs on a palm here and there.
Payment - Well, someone has to pay. And it's going to be expensive, to rent such an island. It'll probably cost a lot, but hey, it's a dream. Let's dream we're all rich 
Lineup - no dj's. Only live acts. Start at early morning (6 am) to wake up with some nice low bpm prog. At about 11 switch to fullon and yay danceeeeeeeeeee
Afternoon will be hot so let's chill with some ambient and food (to be discussed later). At evening get on some goa, astral & mfg and then at night techtrance and night music DDD weeee!!1
When it's tomorrow (past 12) get on higher bpm and 4 am or something time for some astrix and melicia - sounds the same but yayyy we're dancing who cares
Then morning again close the party with progressive allllll the way
and go home to sleep.
Food - fruit, veggies and fresh juice. A dead animal (sheep cow or fish cause we're in an island) at noon to get meat and strength
Freebies - erm.... well the food. You've paid a lot to enter the location, so food comes included  And everyone gets a DVD with the entire recording of the live event plus footage from the scene. LIMITED EDITION DDDD
Housing - bungalows with vents cause it's hot, and some other cool stuff
Chill out - YEA DDDDD Show me one man who can dance 24 hours without a break but not 2 stages, coz then you gotta miss one stage in favor of the other. One stage for all, like I mentioned before.
Ok I think that's all, for my dream party.
Who wanna organize it?

Oh pp cīmon... itīs not to design a dream party... this is exactly to do the opposite, the perfect, possible party...
1 - Out doors - If itīs a hot or tropical place try placing some kind of waterstuff near the dance floors, showers are great... If itīs a cold place is nice to hv somekind of indoors heated place (caban or something)...
2 - UV is great, most pp expend money on UV reactable clothing so they would get frustrated if thereīs none... In hot areas is nice to hv some deco in the dance floor that would double as shadow making by day and UV by night... Some psychedelic projections even in the crowd is very nice by night... Mayan, hindi and alien motifs are always great for the UV reacting back paintings...
3 - Prices should be thought by the number of days, being 10 euros/day very reasonable for europe standards (in Brazil I would say 7 dollars/day tops, wich means around 20 reais)
4 - As many as u can get, tring to follow a reasonable narrative order... Itīs nice when u hv more than one dance floor, but this makes the party more expensive... Try to get 2 or 3 live paīs/day...
5 - The more the best... the most variable the best... the more places to get them the best... and the price must be reasonable cause this is what most pp use to see the organization atittude... DO NOT OVER PRICE WATER BOTTLES, cause this is perceived as a nasty and oportunistic atittude. Try to hv at least one very cheap meal option, like a harekrishna natural something, or anyotherthing to prevent people from going to the medical post for subnutrition...
6 - They r not needed, I personally like parties where u find conscience building texts, where u learn a lot and possibly change ur life for ever... PLUR stuff, the ravers manifesto, uplifting poetry... But I know pp who hate them, so itīs better to leave them sitted somewhere then to handout...
7 - Yes, very important, if itīs cold at night (or day, whatever...) u wanna hv bonfires. U also need a cosy place, think like that... bulid a place where pp can hang out but also sleep (if they didnīt bring a tent). Itīs very important to hv chillout music, itīs a genre man, with lotīs of fans and followers...

there are 3 musts!!!!!
1)location-i like open area's like beaches,top of hills, high location where u can see a beautifull sunrize,beaches or lakes are kinda my soft spot...
2)crowd-it could be the most invested party ever, but without beautifull smiling faces all around it worth nothing!!!!!
3)music/soundsystem-i generally like trnace from all sorts, proggy, psy,full-on as long as the dj is fllowing and knows his work, making something qunike that's doesnt sound like something i can do better, not repetetive , a good taste of everything in the right hour ihe most important thing.
other important stuff:
*/ deco- when i see beautifull invested deco, i know the orginaizers thopught of the crowd and that's a big +
chai-party without chai isnt a real party!!!!!
fair price- i know as big investmant, as bigger the price, but we know when we're being ripped of...!!
treets-sprinklers in the summer are so important
and all kind of treets are always welcome

2- UV Deco with Hindu Gods like Shiva, Ganesha, etc!
3- Free
4- Few DJ's (2 or 3)
5- Only Vegetarian food + water
6- Lots Of Soya and Incense sticks!
