So was both of your sets Boris!! Can't wait for Eclipse. Its a shame how the organizers treated the artists with disrespect.           http://myspace.com/asgartha

oh, and as far as the dancefloor being unpopulated during the sunny hours, this is definitely NOT an issue on the west coast. also, i don't remember it being an issue at Orb last year. it's hard to say why this continues to happen at American events, except those in California.

Had lots of fun at this festival A quick summary of my viewpoints:

Pros:

Beautiful location, lots of very friendly and up for it people, lots of good sets, world cup viewing area.

Cons:

Very expensive for production levels, no tap water (never had this situation before at a festival), no 'shuttle buses' at local bus station as promised on website leaving travellers stranded (woman at local liquor store told me one girl had waited six hours in vain), disorganised lineup time slots on mainstage during the day leading to a lack of flow (prog to fullon to darker sounds with no transitioning), lack of people on the dance floor in the daytime, Talamasca (truly painful for the ears).

With all due respect, Ajja's live was my least favorite set of the festival. mostly monotone basslines with same cheap squeeky and bubbly sounds over and over with uninteresting groove. still don't get all the hype. but i do love Yab Yum!

Of course this is all just personal opinion but I'm quite surprised you thought his set was the worst! Personally I find ajja's music to be an amazing synthesis between deep psychedelia and danceable grooves though I must admit I wasn't overly impressed this time round - not sure if this was due to his track selection or more the lack of clarity on the sound system though.

Whatever the reason it's a real shame since it's the daylight hours that make festivals such a different experience from dancing in darkness indoors. I got the impression that a lot of the people who populated the dancefloor at night were treating each night like a club party/rave. It would have helped to have had some shade over the dancefloor but I don't think this is the main reason it was so underpopulated during the day.

That is what usually happens when Raver crowd is the majority at an event. Nothing against ravers it is just the way they were taught.

Yea for me daytime is when you have the most fun. well slowly but surely I think people will change their ways.

Anyhow,
I had a lot of fun at Desi. Didn't think it was possible, but this year's location topped last year's. Such a beautiful spot. I didn't mind the walking after camp had been set up. What's wrong with a little exercise? It really wasn't that much, unless you were camped way up the hill. Turnout was great with well over 1000 I'd say. Yoga sessions were constantly running in a visible and convenient location, right next to World Cup Lounge and a nice little pond. As far as I could see, the portable bathrooms were maintained properly, and overall the organization seemed to have upgraded, though I don't know what happened to the desi stage manager. Didn't catch all of the music, but the clear standouts for me were ARTIFAKT (whose releases I've never really loved), Wizack Twizack (as usual), Encephalopaticys, and Daksi Unfortunately missed just about all my local favorites

On the downside, I wasn't paid a dime to play the main stage, with broken CDJ's at that, and had to pay $170 to get my girlfriend in who flew in from Japan. To me, that is completely unacceptable, as well as unprecedented in all my years of playing out.

Anyways, thanks Desi crew for your hard work and providing a fun event.

ah whatever, i dont think they would have had billed him two ajja sets if his music was no good..

ya know?

to each his own. ; }

Just a thought, but it's hot as fuck during the day and that makes dancing completely unfun... daytime is for sleeping.           Spacecamppsyfari.com

exactly the opposite my friend! burning sun makes it impossible to sleep during the day without the help of indoor cabins and abundant tree cover, atleast...
