OK I can appreciate loads of different music, but this genre bores the f$$k out of me.. what exactly does it "progress" into? Another fucking breakdown? I am an insomniac and the only use I can find for this style is that it could almost help me get to sleep.. I seriously don't know how anyone could mix this style without falling asleep.. I mean come on, how fucking long do these boring tunes have to go for? Why the 18 minute breakdowns? Please discuss

It's time to move on to the next step in the psychedelic revolution. We've reached a certain point, but we're not moving any more.

once I thought just like you. It wasn't long time ago. But than I heard Dousk - DIY Album and it opened my mind. And i had a need for something new with all this boring copy cat full on so prog house was a good solution. it took a time to grow on me, and than came the electro and the other styles of house that aren't commercial.
Give it a chance
Listen to sets bu Huda – G and Zombi.

I got a fair bit of progressive house on vinyl and I find it quite a pleasure to mix. You get much more variation with the basslines compared to the progressive trance and things of today which seem to be kind of emulating the style but not going deep enough.
Bedrock's a great progressive label for example. |

i should say i love progressive trance....for years now
since vernon times...since first der dritte raum releases since i remember to like dance music to be more precise
BUT I SHOULD AGREE that most of the "progressive"trance today is boring,boring,boring..not to mention names but the progressive last year in boom festival simply SUCKED....apart kino oko sbk and sensient the rest was how should i say "i-am-a-freak-but-i-also-want-to-give-an-image-of-cleaned-nerd-on-the-sophisticated-edge-of-progressive-electro-house-music-and-i-love-cocain-if-you-have-some-i-am-also-a-popular-guy-teasing-girls-with-my-motorhead-t-shirts
sorry if someone is feeling identified with this
for me real progressive is the one that contains a reasonable equilibrium between silence, pump, mistery(is because of this one and the formula expectation-resolution that it works),voyage
and ancient tribalism
for me the last isra and scando releases are really to sleep......i love dreamy house trance but for cars you know...to a after chilling up the neurones
the worst of all is the pretentious attitude of the people that only now discovered the powder ah ah you passed last years criticizing techno and house but at the end there you are licking the worst it has to offer.........come on wake up that is time
love....gabi |

It's all about the set as a whole, it takes a completely different mindset to understand and enjoy prog I've found, you either get it or you don't. It's about the groove, it's about forward thinking set construction, it's about interlocking pieces combining to create something different. Listening to old Sasha sets was always an experience as he was a genius at constructing huge sets that worked as a single entity, it wasn't about the individual tunes, more about the entire experience. These days I don't listen to much of it as I'd prefer to listen to Tech and Deep House, but I cant certainly appreciate it for what it is. I used to listen a little bit of it and still own a bunch, but I never really got the massive breakdown 18 minute jobs, only lisen to loads of the percussive, groovy stuff, I treated it like slow Techno basically.

it's called tension & the art is in building it
not that I listen to progressive house but I can appreciate a good build-up / breakdown
e.g. Julian Jeweil - "Air Conditionne"
new Hadal Drop album on the way
if you don't have the last one get in touch |
