This has most likely been asked before but I tried the search and no luck. When you send a demo cd out how many tracks would be a good number to pop on there?           www.audio-presto.co.uk post production audio and synth modifications / repairs.

some tracks that shows your style, but they should all still prove each thing on your production skills. Lets say, one prog track and one fullon track, and so on. Also depends on which style and what label you want to go to

I suggest putting your best work on the CD - and also arrange it in some nice listening order... This way it will get heard more and get more concentrated ears. - usually           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

also a good suggestion is to make sure ur tracks get to the point fast, perhaps even make a short version of your track, because the person listening to it won't listen to the entire song, he'll skip thru it... And he doesn't want to listen to long buildups and pauzes, he wants to hear what ur song is about. So leave in everything that's essential but cut out everything that's superfluous, making 3minute versions of the songs is a good way to make the demo interesting to the listener, u have to realise that he'll be listening to lots of demo's... Also, it's essential to put ur best song first, so it will be the first thing he hears, and that u get to the most interesting part of the song fast, and i mean really fast, cuz the guys listening to demo's get bored really fast too...

these are all remarks from the demo-panel of soundonsound...

...who are not talking about trance tracks. Making edits of your psytrance tracks for labels is a REALLY BAD IDEA - trance is all about the flow and doing this will destroy it utterly, giving absolutely no impression of how your track will work on the dancefloor. Most A&R people at trance labels are DJs and will need to have full-length versions of the tunes to get any idea of what the track's 'about'.

it s not dance or hip hop , the labels want full tracks , i think the best is to get in touch with them before sending tracks and for the number , one can be enought if it s killer

Good posts here already, what I'm gonna say is basically said already but ...
Ask the label first if they're looking for new artists/tracks. If they respond yes you can ask them how they want the music ... cd in the mail or if just sending a mp3 over for instance msn will do.
Good luck           ________________________
