Anyone know how to shut these off? I do not have room in my mixer for it to be cluttered up by 32 channels of drums! 30 of which are unused!

The manual and NI forum are no help. Clicking the channel button on the bottom right lets you select the different channels to route various cells to them, but it doesn't say how to deactivate any of them. I only want a couple of those channels, 8 at the most, certainly not 32.

This isn't an issue in Battery 1, it has an options menu with the option to select the number of outs you want. Battery 2 doesn't appear to have this menu, or at least it isn't easy to find... or I'm overlooking something obvious...           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

In "Options" menu you select amount of stereo and mono channels.

You are overlooking something obvious...

btw,
if you use Logic 5.5, multioutput will work if you set max 16 audio chans...           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

In Battery 1, yes. That version I knew what was going on. But in Battery 2 it looks very different:

So there's the options. And there's a Channel thing that I've highlighted... but there's no options to add/decrease the number of channels, there's no pop-open window. Er, not that I'm seeing anyway...           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

ok ...lissen .... Aeon ..... in the cubase sx mixer .. there is an option to "hide channels " that you dont use .... for example u can hide , midi channels by clicking on the midi icon in the mixer on the extreme left ... audio channels by cilcing the waveform icon , vsti , fx and other channels ... all the waveforms are laid down vertically in the extreme left of the mixer .. the last icon in the strip is a box type 'squared ' icon ... clicking that , turn it on .. and then u can "hide" any channel you wish to from being displayed in the mixer .....

to hide the channels , click on the top bar of the fader channel you wish to hide ... which has a small triange facign downards ... clikc on it and a menu appears "can hide" , select that and it will be checkmarked ... if u did it properly .... now , enabling the hide channles icon frm that strip in the left of the mixer ... hides all the channels u selected " can hide" for ... read the sx manual for further info .... if u dont get it .. lemme know ... ill post some screenshots ...

respect .. chandan !

That sounds like what I need to do... I'll try it when I get home... thanks! I guess I should've been reading the Cubase manual and not the Battery manual...

That's strange that the option to deactivate extra channels isn't there in new version of Battery, but hey, if your Cubase method works to hide them that's just as good.

Sounds like it's a good one to know anyway... there are a couple other VSTs (Reaktor, Stylus) that I had similar annoyances with, not being able to remove superfluous outputs etc, but none of them were as out of control as Battery 2s' *32* channels! What a mixer clogger!           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

Sorry, I tend to be too optimistic sometimes (can't see any reason not to let the user configure those simple things).

I do hide the cannels in the mixer, but still feel it would be easier not create them in the first place - mess.

Exactly. I don't get why Battery 1 had that option right there, yet it seems to be gone in Battery 2, forcing you to use 32 channels.

I don't know how much extra CPU that uses, but it seems like something basic that shouldn't be a big deal like this.           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604
