Hi,
Does anyone know of a delay plugin which can be set to swing in a similar way to the Cubase groove quantise?
Have been doing a track with swing on the 16th notes which means that when I use delay I cannot use 16th note delay or dotted 8th note delay which is pretty annoying...
Thanks

This isn't a great answer to your question, but it would work.
Instead of putting a delay plugin on the particular part, bounce the part to audio.
Do a one-shot effect of your preferred plug-in (right-click on the audio part, select "plug-ins" and then your delay unit). Make sure you do it 100% wet and that there's none of the source sound in this audio clip.
Slice up the bits of echo, and then adjust them to your grid.
You'll want to play the audio along with the original part (as the audio will be 100% delay and 0% dry).
If your bits of echo overlap each other, this will be harder to do - you might have to make seperate audio bounces for each bit and put them in new tracks (so that you can slice each bit of echo).
Of course, if there was a delay unit that did this it would save a lot of trouble. Let us know if you find one! |

Thanks, that sounds like the best plan for now (although Im not sure I've got the energy to do that every time I use delay!) Might have to just use it on one or two simple sounds.
Have come up with another solution which may or may not work. It uses two delay lines, each set at half of the required rate and given start offsets so that one delay line produces the 'on the beat notes' while the other produces the alternate 'behind the beat' notes:
For a 16th note delay line with swing: use two delay lines set to 8th notes. Set a start offset on the first delay line of a fraction of a 16th note to prodcue the swing. Set a start offset of a whole 16th note for the second line.
Similarly for a dotted 8th note delay line: use two dotted 4th note delay lines with appropriate offset.
Not sure if this is very clearly explained! Will try it tonight to see if it works.
Another solution is just programming the delay effect by hand in the sequencer... |
