Well Kaz, I think that this undefined thing that describes "Good Music". But i agree with your definition, but imo is too tecnical one. I donīt think music can be treat as a exact science. Itīs much more than this.           LOADING...

There is no such a thing as perfection. What is good and what is not is something that cant be defines since what is good for me is bad for someone else.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

Very nice post Asaf, I will have to give this some serious thought before I post my opinion on this one.           Both teams played hard

Asaf, very nice, very on point, i agree with pretty much all you said, i like the way you categorized it in to 5 main sections. just because im a dedicated fan and very positively biased, i cant disagree with you Simon P. comments! btw, are you asaf s?           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

man , its like sampling from smth continious to discrete - u always lose information ... but imo very nice effort , back up with essential examples . i can only say that good music imo is once its beat gets inside me , making me moving with it .... or when it makes me closing my eyes and just flow with it into this UNDEFINED           Dance is my Trance

i think that we still don't know, but the brain is more sencetive sound waves lengths than others.what i mean is that some sounds r interpted by the brain as ones who makes us feel good, while others just arouse us with no real interpetations by the brain. the best songs r one holding the right balance between the waves that makes our brain feel the best.
maybe music is pure nuero-science????

Sadhu: yup, that's me

And to all of the "I believe the center of the music is undefined" - well, be objective for a moment. If you'd like your music undefined, would you be hearing a monotonic 4/4 beat all the time?           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

kaz, dude, Thanks man!

This is some of the most useful discussion I've come across in this forum so far. I wish I were at the point where I could contribute to it. But for now, I will continue to listen, read, and think.

I've been trying to unravel the mystery of this trance phenomenom. Objective analyses like this really help me along my path! Cheers!

Our efforts may never be completely satisfying though, as the true core of the power may indeed be beyond objective description.

why can't there be perfection?
when u listen to a track and you say "wow, that's amazing!" - isn't it a definition?
i agree with Asaf. He said right.
But i believe that even if didn't listen to a track but u see your fav artist and label - that will be a good track. At least for you. You can easily say "thats should be good stuff".
the main thing is not to mix taste and quality. EG, you are full on lover, even fan of GMS or Dark Soho, but if you hear good and talanted minimal - you can say that it is very good, professianaly made and the quality is good. Though even if you don't like inimal at all.

That's it.

Asaf, I've been away for some time, mostly in South East Asia, good to see your interesting posts again.... you are truly an intellectual. Remember out 4 page debate on my article on "prejudice againt psychadelics?" that was about oct. 2001. that was great... keep on rocking us with intelligent analyzations.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

Good topic... I'll resurrect it... Let's see if opinions changed in these 2 years...

My opinion is that we can judge music by our taste, but even I can make some shit on Cubase and, let's say my mother will like it more that she likes Posford, so we need real world parameters to analyse music. (Otherwise people will say they like music just because a girl kissed them, or because they took 3 MDMA pills when they listened to it).

We can use as parameters the abilities of the musician with his instruments. For example anyone who plays guitar for, let's say 3 months can easily play all riffs played by Skazi, but is far away from play most Dream Theater songs.

On the other side, criativity must be considered, because it is must easier to play a music by Jimmi Hendrix than to create a song as good as Jimmi's songs. And it's very difficult to compare artist's criativity.

Well, just some thoughts...
