Hi artists, throughout the times i've heard guys talking about defining tunes in its higher frequencies - Or in another words - Whenever you feel like your tune is super busy and filled with stuff that 'run' in the higher frequencies, and you feel like you have to set some definition there, what do you do? Do you start cutting and boosting some certain frequencies so they don't jump over each other?

Like for example: Let's say you have 2 leads in your tune, and those 2 leads are interfering with each other, do you cut here and there (frequencies) on the 1º lead and you also cut in the 2º lead here and there, so the 1º lead 'runs' in the middle high frequencies and the 2º lead 'runs' in the higher high frequencies..?

I'm not sure i was straight enough, but oh well, thank you.

thats not easy to say... think about a layered lead, and one got a lfo/cutoff running through...

in my experience layering often works without to much eq´ing... or you instantly hear its simply not working...

lowering the highs in one lead is a good idea... also the other way around... so that always one lead is present in a freq range.

try and error id say.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I do except I'll usually do the tweaking for each lead in the synth. (So I'd bounce one with low pass filtering and the second lead with a high pass filtering....Saves you some time when it comes to EQing.

come on guys, it is not so hard to watch our mouth right?speak what you feel, but in a polite way, no need to turn offensive.

Yes but if you have a certain type of lead where you can't neither highpass or lowpass anyone of them, that can become a bit complex, but thanks.

the EQ is important but more important for me is the volume and the panning on your stereo space ... try to create the own space for each one for example, imagine two leads put one more mono at your taste and other more stereo and play with the volume to fit good each other .

this way works good for me . just wanna share with you

cheers mano!           thoughts become things

Yes Zabot you're right, having one lead in the center and the other one on the sideways works nice.

I often seem to get by with a low shelf filter. It creates more room for the highs.           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:
