Hi guys!

I can imagine that there is a topic called:
hardware vs. software, and it cant be more of an Neverending Stor than that, so!
I would like to call this topic for Defination of choice....Anyway my question is
What kind of gear do you use (hard/soft) and Why?

Since i started to deal whit electronic music about 8 years ago i started of whit hardware and couldn`t never imagine to go over to software since i miss this "feeling" you don`t have in software (according to me)
What do you say ?

NO DEBATES WHICH IS BETTER PLEASE!!!!

Do you refer to hard vs soft synths or outboard equipment or both?

In any case, the best is a combination of both for numerous reasons imo.

I'm only using software at the moment. I'm planning on getting a few synths(old and new) but not any other outboard gear(comps, eqs, effects etc.) except mic-pres and mics.

I'm very happy as it is but it can be better with the addition of a few hard synths.           A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life.

Software and hardware all good, use em together it's just more colors and tones for ya canvas, i use both although i tend to use alot of vst just cause of quick recall plus i use em for rare instruments like east west ra, u can't get those sound in hardware but i got hardware sounds that i aint got in software ya dig so get as much u can hehe but remember to limit regardless of ur army equipment having to much at once can just slow u down, but definitly u can sprinkle some of this and some of that

I prefer software. Didn't had much hardware so far except for a microkorg, mc-505 and a Virus KB. I recently bought the Virus and noticed I don't use it that often. Not because it's inferior (ofcourse), it sounds sweet and all but once I'm in the production process speed (not the drug) is very important for creativity for me. And if I see the (visual) crystal clear huge amounts of possibilities of vsti's like Massive, Albino3 & Zebra I tend to get faster and more sophisticated results out of them than out of hardware. I can make 'em fit more easily in the mix for some reason. Allthough once in a while I still use hardware for an occasional lead or pad.

As for weird effects: most definitely software. The routing possibilities are so straightforward you can get pretty deep in no time. But I'm sure it all comes down to routine. What I just said can easily be said of hardware too by a hardware-geek.

mmmmmm.... it probibly depends on how we all start to produdce music in the begining.
A time ago i wanted to go over to just software (moast DSP Based platforms) but
couldn`t get anything done, after a short while i missed my wonderful TI and my Voyager
BTW Whats the moast common software synth used in this Scene, if you look at the hard-w. side, allmoast evryone got or ahd a Virus!!

Well I started out with hardware only and had some real fun but no songs done . Then I discovered vst(i)s and as the years went on got addicted to them.

woops, it said 'no debates', sorry...

Me too but now I'm glad because VSTi sounds great now.
I remember firsts of them like that in Cubase VST or TS-404 from FruityLoops2 (neverending possibility of sound creating hahaha)

I bought a second hand virus ti asweel as a blofeld, and I must admit that the synthetising learning process is MUCH smoother on them than with vsti...

fanatic on this topic, i would recomend to try the
Analogue Solutions Leipzig, it`s said not to be a minimoog clone but it still sounds very alike, almoast
eaven warmer, anyway it coasts about 1/3 of what the voyager does and its 100% analog!!
got one and its great!
