"Deeper in Zen - TAO"
The new release from Deeper in Zen is a double CD.
CD 1 is ambient, CD 2 is full on power Psy-Trance.

From the beginning I knew there was something special with Deeper In Zen.
They have this magic wand in their studio which turns every piece of music a gem!
Koan, the guy behind this project also makes music with Kent from Mind Warped (remember "Fluorolizard" album in 1998?)
They both are magicians... and what a nice surprise when I received this brand new double cd from Soular Records =)
"Tao represents the two polarities of energy, The feminine dark mystique and the penetrating masculine light, symbolizing the infinite dance of the universe.
The first CD is an exploration into the ambient and mysterious with a blend of downtempo and meditational tracks.
The second CD is an eruption of powerful full on psy-trance at it's most potent, the thunderstorm of sound that Deeper in Zen is well known for.
With the release of "TAO", Deeper in Zen has broken new ground and created what is sure to become a classic CD for all lovers of psychedelic music."

The ambient cd have a very nice progression from the beginning till the end, some pieces of music here are very danceable, some others very calm and introspective.
The full-on cd is a killer one with those huge basslines and leads plus the unique intros and atmospheres from Deeper In Zen also found once in Pure Planet v/a on Kagdila Recs.

i disagree with Astral Waves:
the ambient cd is very (too much) minimal, sounds empty & boring for me.
The full on cd is better, nothing brainblasting or new but more enjoyable & effective.
Globally i give 4/10. |
