Help guys, I'm a bit stuck..
What is the best way to use Ableton Live and a pair of decks together to create a set that is organic and open to changes on the fly?
Here's the equipment I have:
2x Technics 1210
Technics DMC mixer
Computer with a basic sound card (1 in 1 out)
4 channel mixer
Virus B
Kaoss Pad 2
Akai Apc40
I want it to be set up so one person uses the computer and the Apc40, and the other person is on the Kaoss pad with the decks.
How can Ableton sync up with the audio from the decks to create something seamless?
Thanks in advance knowledgeable people!

in short: beatmatch
in long: mute and cue the channel that ableton is going into, and play a click track out of ableton. Adjust the bpm until the click track is beatmatched to the person on the decks. Keep the BPM there
if you have extra sound outputs you can have one channel play a click track constantly and bind a few midi pads to tempo bend up/tempo bend down and tempo increase/tempo decrease
whatever you do don't map a midi slider to tempo. Not enough resolution |

or you could go the other way and have the guy on the decks beatmatch to your click track.
In any case it won't be perfect but then again with DJing if you go for perfection you're really wasting energy. Imperfection is what makes music human |
