I have sort of soft trancey full-on typey project in making. Tweaking there and there I noticed that all the sounds sound very nice when the tempo is lower. Now im not sure should I keep the full-on energy or should I slow it down to trippy downtempo. How do you decide what tempo you use when it sounds good both with high and low tempo?

Obviously you didn't get my question.

Yes, there is no difference. But some arrangements sound better with certain tempo. You certainly can't say that it doesnt matter what tempo you use. So im asking again. If you have the possibility to make the track either downtempo or going with faster tempo, what would you do?

Ps. I have very good pair of headphones           http://soundcloud.com/mansikka

Hmmm.... I think you need to decide first on a tempo and then make all the sounds fit to it.
You get my point?
Like if you made a track 138 and you have a picture than you change to 147 it may not fit that well as you made it fit for 138.

Anyway your brain gets used to tempo if there is no drastic changes it sounds kind of the same.

If you want to Dj with your tracks have that in mind. Maybe it will give you a better idea.
Like if you play most of your music at 145 then make your track in that area if you play most of your tracks at 130 then make your tracks in that area.

That is a thing to consider i think. All that sounds better or worse is something i would not have in mind. I hope you get me.

Yeah mixing stuff is different.

The change here was from 142 to 105... But I think I'll stay with the 142 and maybe add a break/uplift with slowdown at some point, compromise things.

Thanks for response anyway, you got point there           http://soundcloud.com/mansikka

or maybe make 2 versions, one downtempo one danceable.

Why not?

Throw em both on Soundcloud and see which gets more hits, or which one you end up 'feeling' more, after letting it age a bit.           .

Or try making them both in one track, you can start out slow with each song and kind change it in a progressive mode to higher bpm's

I usually get a decent sounding kick/bass going and while it's still MIDI I'll turn the tempo up and down until it's somewhere I like.

Agree, for a live set it works great when you start with a track like that but be careful not to make the slow bit not interesting enough or long enough to make the crowd walk away.
