I'm currently with a pair of AKG k240 MKII and their not bad - I use them for both production and mixing. So there's a +1 on my side

But it's not a replacement for a good pair of monitors - or even a bad pair of monitors for the sake of it, you'll always need that external reference of how it sounds on a stereo speaker system to make the most proper judgement, particularly towards the low end.

That said, I say it's better to have a good pair of headphones (or two) and some low to mid range monitors(price/quality wise), than only top notch monitors in a bad acoustic environment - headphones really help out on that part.           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

knocs you Right 100 Precent

but some people live with Parents at home
next stupid neighbors which whining about the VOL

and having monitor it was not options for them
with this conditions having monitor you maybe
get 1-3 HR to make music

1-3 for music is like finishing glass of coffee

and headphone give you the options to make music 24/7 without nerd anybody around you

HD600, best I've ever used, translate very well to my ATCs which cost about 20 times as much...           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma
