Hey vector_0,

Is it you having reviewed "Air" v/a in April under another pseudo?
I'm looking to get in touch with this person since long...

So why we as labels should send demos to be reviewed here as:
1- there's no link whatsoever to our websites under the reviews? (so wow big deal, how can people reaches us/listen the CD/Buy from there?)
2- there was a few tracks reviewed, not the entire CD...
3- there was absolute non-professional words about the mastering about the Ra track: it was said that the mastering was "bad" lol ! the reviewer had the impression of this maybe because he can't appreciate how this track was made for! lol again..
This track sometimes is louder in certain parts and this is normal.
That was intentionally made by the artist to make a great epic effect.Even worse saying the mastering was bad is a mistake, if in any case there was a problem with this track, it'd be about the mixing, not the mastering.

So why should we get hyped sending Shahar Cd's for a review after all?

I'm not fru, just waiting about a comment from you, supposed to be "pro"?.
I'm still interested to get reviews, I don't mind, all is good to hear but I need a professional one with links and words of knowledge if the word "mastering" is used, per exemple

well, that wasn't me for sure....i'm too proud of my eloquent mastery of the english language to say something like "bad mastering" I've only done three reviews so far: Dymons "Druids Brew" Chronos "Natus In Spiritus EP" and Irukanji "Z Lisu"

Sorry you got a bunk review, but here's what I can say:

1) Believe it or not, lots of people do know how to search, and in their proactive quest for new music, they will find your album for sale from their preferred vendors. Not a bad idea to have links though; agreed that this would be very worthwhile pending there isn't some good reason why this isn't already the case.

2) We don't do track-by-track reviews, rather we write an essay about the album as a whole.

3) I don't know what to tell you there; we are encouraged to only review albums that we like, so maybe the reviewer was disappointed and just didn't like your release?

4) The more exposure you get, the better it is for you. If you don't see the value in sending one measly copy to a high traffic website such as this for review, then I guess there's probably nothing I can say to make you think otherwise.

Are you sure you are thinking of this site?

Ra delivers a stunner as well (T9), however the mastering feels a bit off with this one. It lacks punch and substance, which is a shame, because this is again a track which is easily among the best on the compilation.

a bit off, lacks punch & substance, these are hardly the unprofessional words. You said that the artist made it like that for epic effect but obviously the reviewer did not think it was achieved. The word bad in which you used quotation marks as if it was the word used was not mentioned and overall that was a very positive review.
So where are you getting all the negativity from?

The review was edited.
Anyways fine, still that there's no external links to the release neither to the label...

Also vector_0 why sending Cd's for a review to Israel although you're living in USA?

cheers

hey man, anyone is welcome to send me a cd personally on the good faith that I will review it, assuming its an album I would be interested in (I am indeed a man of solid character)...PM me if you're interested. Or I could just swing by and pick it up next time I'm in Québec!

I'm just excited to be on the review team here, thats all.

I think it's really important for labels, PR-managers etc to accept a review that doesn’t only glorify a release. It creates unhealthy situations like mistrust in the person making the review if it doesn't speak its true mind - and the readers who aren’t idiots will catch the fakeness in split seconds. If the reviewer digs the release 100% he or she will write so, if she or he has a complaint, doesn’t like the music or parts of it, it's important that it's written (with respect, of course). If people who send me music only expect shining words about their release no matter if I like it or not, they got some serious problems. First of all almost all promotion is good promotion, and second of all, labels refusing to send out promo's to people telling Their real opinion are cowards and play unfair games. If you send me a review, you'll get an unbiased opinion about its content + promotional work. Stop trying to control freedom of speech; it will only come back to you in a negative way.

hrm hrm may I jump inside your light Vector_O and say the same. Please send more ChillOut to Isratrance for reviewing! I also host my own *cough* MySpace page (look at my signature). I'm not a professional reviewer, so I lack firm knowledge of what’s good mastering and bad mixing, but I have my way of writing and I add loads of user-friendly links for people to click, images for people to see and I also push my reviews on many psychedelic music forums around the net.

Thanks for the spot Vector_O, appreciate it! (from another person happy about being on the IsraReview Team)
