basilisk, what sounds and what doesnt sound in your head was not the subject of the post. it is clear that there are not 40000 individual units per month. dont make me repeat all from the beginning. thanks.

Sorry for the OT, but I must...

Moki, take a look here:

and here:

And that's out of love, believe me.

Everything may be clear to you now but you certainly appeared to be incredibly confused just a page ago.

moki:
there are 100 cds on the website
evry month , each cd get downloded 400 times.
that equals 40000 clicks on the 'download' buttons that are near evry realese

offcourse the real numbers are not that round and not that equal from realese to realese , maybe one get 500 and other 300.

another question now is:
how many new albums per month do you publish on the website?          www.sattelbattle.com

pfhhhhhhhhhfhfhffffffff

you have started even in this topic with the psychological analysis. it is unbelievable.

basilisk, yes i was a bit confused because if it was 40000 downloads and if this is a normal thing for a website in the trance scene, then you have quite high salaries per month considering that it is not 40000 tracks but 40000 packages. i was a bit confused cause i did not know that i am talking with people who have such high traffic. or is it all free . no. anyway i just wanted to help a bit. and i am interested a lot in the theory of the long tail, otherwise i would not choose it as a graduation topic.

but anyway. how you people know who has borderline. i think i do. for long time now. and so what. i thought we were discussing something serious here. but i see we dont. we could discuss ajax, the distribution platforms of the big player, everything actually, but we discuss syndroms. buah. it is so unbelievable. i should also start making money from this scene. no sense to believe in sth that does not exist. good luck.

If you simply looked around you would probably find answers to the questions you have, but in the interest of clearing up some of your chronic confusion... all of the downloads on my site are free (which is a big part of why the download counts are so high), there are no "salaries" (the site and the label run at a loss, out of my own pocket), and I wouldn't describe anything I do as "normal" (there are no other sites quite like mine). Alright, maybe we can let this rest a bit?

okey. cool. so i actually did talk exactly to the right person here:). yes, lets rest it a bit. i see that even discussing media management theories is too much for here:))). anyway on my site it is all free too and all a loss too, so we should may be actually do something out of that. wish all good to all free souls out there!

Boom !!!

when it goes to p2p u lose count
also some pirates have different links to the releases and u rarely see a counter on them
so until now me cannot conceive the size of the scene and it worries me a bit because it would be very interesting to know how many people are really into music herself

Sooo.. the decline in music sales has been established for a while. But how is it going now? Is it getting less and less or is the cd market stabalised in a way? Any thoughts or preferably facts on this matter?
It seems there is a few 'established' labels that keep putting out albums and VA's and the number of 'small' labels putting out a single cd is getting even smaller or am I wrong here?

in the general cd market i understand it is still declining. But i was wondering about our little scene. Because that is probably stabalised earlier than the major market.

Back to the original topic of conversation... For being out for 5 months, my new album Shenanigans has sold slightly over 250 copies according to the last report I got from the label. Definitely a major change to what was sold in that time for my first album released in 06.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Oooo... The album was nice Greg. How much did the first one sell? I really liked Cats@play.. Still play some tunes of it in my dj sets.
