How can I be 100% sure that my .wav has no DC offset? For example:I loaded the a loop (.wav) in Cool Edit, removed the DC and normalized it.I then loaded the saved loop in WaveLab which "told" me that there was still DC offset. One of the apps must be wrong, but which one?I also discovered a BUZZ DC removal plug-in which I used in FL Studio, and according to WaveLab it always removes the DC offset...but what if WaveLab mistakes?

Well the best way is to look at the silent parts - are they at the 0 point? I say trust your eyes

In cubase sx you can can choose an option to see the audio files u use - it also analysis it for you so you see if there are silences or dc offsets.

in fl there also option which removes this - if you wanna check it out - load sample with dc offset - remove it - render the track and take it to soundforge and check

AFAIK it gives some unwanted sounds in the audio and also you can't cut it without a 'tick' sound because the silent part of the wave is not on the zero level of the dynamic range           "one good thing about music is when it hits you , you feel no pain" - Bob Marley

DC can harm your monitors in much severe way than high input voltage.

Optical,
just a small adding to what das fung said AFAIK DC removal (at least the automatic one in sound forge) can't ruine your wave meaning if there is no DC offset to remove it just won't take any action so if you are not sure you can just process the wave with DC removal without making any change.
