the equation you need for watts to dB is such

SWL in dB = 10 log ( (watts/m^2)/(10x10^-12))

i hope you understand the notation

SWL = sound intensity level in dB

watts/m^2 : use a referance distance of 1m and you will have watts

10x10^-12 (same as 10^-12) is the referance level.

as far as dB being the same as dBA , this is not the case, dBA is a scaled SPL to match how the human ear hears.

hope this isnt to brief or complicated

in essance dBA is what your ear will hear. and now i must go and do my Acoustic engineering homework.
