they should all sound the same 100% , i don t know much about this but it s digital audio ,if one don t sound the same it s errors in the code . ( reaper, protools, nuendo ,cubase protools ,logic all sound the same and i guess same for ableton )
in many forums it have been discussed ,some claims to hear a difference but null test always showed there is none .(but don t know about fruity and live ... just export some tracks from ableton, same from a other sequencer and see if they null when you phase reverse one, anyway a good mix sound good what ever you use ) |

i ve tested qbase vs logic in a very expensive system. (rosetta a/d,d/a +channel routing one by one through 3 motu 896,listenning through Dynaudio bm6a)on a mac .
Same ppl mixing different tracks(100+ch) on different sequencers.
There was nothing to compare, logic was the winner.
There was really big difference in the mix clarity in all frequences so i was really impressed from the result .
Maybe was the sequencers mixer interface that made us mix with more detail in Logic but i still wonder if it was just the engine...
We never used steinbergs program again .

Btw, how can I make the "phase reverse" comparison ? Is it a tool in Soundforge ? |

and check the manual in live ,it say all you have to do to have transparent rendering (use 32 bit float bounce, no dither,no sample rate convertion, no tuning , unstretched clip warp beat algo ...) i think i did the test when i started to use live and no diff with nuendo but i m not really sure if i really did it... |

The theory is that you simply create 2 tracks and revers the phase on one so in case they are "similar" they should cancel eachother out.
|
|
I understood the theory, but I wanted to know what tool should I use to do it. |

Do you work for Apple? I find this very very hard to swallow. The different in DAWs surely is minimal.
Quality is largely irrelevant to me anyway, I spent a year with Logic and its just not my thing, I found it annoying as hell. I'll never leave Cubase now I've got so fast with it.
Each to their own. |

This thread has been very educational. It has convinced me to stick with Ableton in the long run now. The interface is perfect (for me), and I was only really concerned over sound quality.

the truth is the general listener trippin out and listening to your tunes could care less if you made it in fruity loops, ableton, cubase or pro tools. Just stick to what feels the most comfortable and let the audiophiles fight their brains out over which is best. |
