I use Cubase, but you can work with any music production software, Reaper is very cheap but really awesome!!!! |

Interesting: in all these discussions I never see any mention of Sonar.
My friend is a professional producer and arranger and he uses Sonar and claims it is exctly what he needs for his work.
Is there any reason why it is completely ignored by the psytrace producers? |

I used Sonar also on this for a time, had the opportunity to use it and wanted to learn it. Quite decent what it is able of espescially with its controller but also inside of the software you can edit a world. I found it a bit complex though and dunno anyone that uses it. Stopped playing with it after a month of 'expirience' on it. It definetly is a high quality DAW with lots of microdetails like ProTools or the likes.

You can use whatever you like, as long as you are "at home" with that DAW. For Psy i would stick to Ableton. I was FL Studio user for a long time. So the message is use the daw where you can produce fast. That is very important, do what you need to do before you run out of creative juice, when you do leave it for tomorrow. |

as far as i remember there is a certain midi learn bug wich makes it very inconvenient to work with controllers. That was my last state over a year ago i think, don`t know if its fixed but that was the reason for me to not investigate further.

easy answer. for me personally: not availabel for mac (which is what I use to make music with)
but have some friends who have it and looks like a very complete, full featured daw and the packed instruments are better then anything else I've seen on a daw box before. zeta + and renegade anyone? was also positively impressed by their mixing console emulations inbeded.
but, you know, most people will stick to what they're used to and some of us have been doing this for years and years and not exactly tempting to jump on any new wagon and learn a new set of keyboard shortcuts and workflow. |
