i found the carillon systems amazing for psy, but rubbish at d&b. my friend's dell excels at detroit techno, but when you make house on it, it sounds like shit. the gateway pc's are pretty good at tuvan throat singing, and well macs, they are not really good for any kind of music except for japanese enka.

basically its a matter of what you like...
look at the sequencers. and the on board synths as first indicators...but when you already have a daw why change?

i started with reason. reason is cool but you cant use vsts so you are kinda limited so i switched to logic but the scissor tool made me insane (which i now consider to be a good thing)...
at the moment i work with ableton because i like the copy & paste syntax of the sequencer best...

thing about japanese enka is true . its because of the aluminium-heatmanagment causes some freqs at 432 hz trigger its eigenfrequency disconnecting it from the bus it should cool...

not sure if troll or....

if you have a track made in cubase, and if you load all the samples, midis and synths presets into fl studio or ableton, you'll be able to remake it. bit by bit.

just because some of the best producers use cubase, that doesnt mean you can't use other software...

Yes Cubase is the best one for using samples and having tons of bugs just check the steinberg forums and steinberg don't care about those ...ableton is better

there is a thing called work-flow

every daw have its work-flow, ones are more oriented for recordings, and post production, others for creative looping process

each one can do pretty much everything, the question is, wich daw lets you do what you want, faster and in a way that you like...

there are also some daw´s wich go extreme like Reaper, and let you custumize you exacly as you want... select the shortcuts, the menus, even the mouse clicks... you must waste 1 or 2 days configuring everything, but then, you have your own DAW, adapted to your self, and the license its cheap...

the only con about reaper its the somehow instable midi clock, sometimes i feel other daw´s have a more stiff and acurate timing, but besides that... its custumizable like hell, the plugins run more smoother and lighter than the oponents...

the install of reaper its only 6 or 7 mb, and its also free to use, after the evaluation time over, you can still use it...

(even so i buyed the license, because it worh it, and i like their policy)

I tried it and was impressed by how stable the whole thing felt, plus some very nice looking skins.

do you know of any good website with information about what you're saying there: how to costumize everything? how to use that matrix-like thing it's got there?

Logic user here, but this one kind of puzzles me... Like their policy as well, constant updates, they actually ear what the users are saying, very light on resources... nice stuff!

Reaper have also many updates, but unline other daw´s, you dont have to change anything
all your configurations are there...

reaper works like:
it gives you thousands of primitive actions...
like "draw note", "Delete note", "add vst"
stuff like this, on an action palete, and then you can combine actions and create your own sequence of behavior

you can create instructions to make a plugin "offline" after use another instruction to "bounch internaly" convert midi to audio...

you create pretty much everythign you want in reaper, you make the Work-flow unlike the other daw´s...

if i am not mistaken, you can also share reaper custumizations, so it probably are out there some examples being shared, some for logic users, with the usual "short cuts" your get used on logic, the same "way of thinking"

but the best part of reaper is You make whatever you want in terms of work-flow
