less is better and if a daw have good native tools to work is great. Agree with you here Nectarie. after your words i was thinking how many have discover the native plugs of logic deeper? a bad thing that most people do when starting to use a new daw is to search for a bag full of 3rd plugs to work and they dont try the native first.
From my side i can say im not a big fan of ableton's native instruments. But the effects are great. i use them a lot. Simpler and Sampler are really good too but the power of ableton among with many many other things is the racks for me .  ...into the wild.... |

Even though that was probably supposed to be a joke, thats kinda what Burial does.
He only uses Soundforge to make tracks, hes never used a DAW in his life. At least thats what he claims in interviews. So that is possible...

yeah people keep telling me what a revelation burial is? it didnt really click with me that self-titled album, kind of boring chill-step imo. "gutted" was ok!

Yup Hackintosh is the way.
Selling my MacPro to get a PC and have Hackintosh running on it.
Have an i7 MacBook Pro that will run my live sets with no problems for ages *knocks on wood*

I use Logic and Reason, but if i need to chose only one that would be Reason! Logic's stock plugins are good, but the power of Logic are the fx and not the synths in my opinion! Its great DAW, compressors are really good, you have 15 compressors in one, 5 algos for compression type + 3 for saturation + built in limiter! Space designer and Delay designer, pedalboard.. but..
Reason 7 is raw power! Built in SSl style mixer, high quality synths, great FX, + the rack extensions are offering extra power! Its modular, and you can make it sound as you want it to sound! If your goal is making music, it is the best platform to express your creativity!

I think I'd go for ableton or Logic. Cubase is lacking in some aspects. It doesn't have a sampler and the synths are not that great imho. So, Logic or Ableton it is.

i work with hardware and drumming samples anyway....
i think Ableton EQ, Delay, Compressors, samplers, dashboard are good enought, its easy and intuitive to produce too...
