Hi. Finally im quite happy with my PC audio configurtion, everything is going super smooth (i must b dreaming) Im running TinyXP Beast Edition on a 3.0 Ghz 1 Gb RAM Pentium, nd i ant believe how smooth and solid is my audio , even with several heavy plugins an ultra low latency. BUT.. i dont have any intenet or any office even windows media on it ( That shit just distrcts me from making music anyway). thing is i dont have any antivirus installed , cause i know (or least suspect) it will affect my beloved audio configuration with all those auto protect that never go away and updates and shit. on the othe hand im afraid i might get screwed by some kinda shady items i got.. if u know what i mean... can u guys recommend a antivirus app that will protect my system but not slow it down in ANY way?? is there something like that...
gee thanx in advance..

Check downloads on another computer before you use them.

Otherwise AVG is free and pretty light, you can turn off features like email/web browsing protect if you're not going to use them and just use file scanning.

Also only Norton has all these insane pop ups about protection. AVG just sits there quietly. Occasionally when I restart it updates, but it only takes 5 seconds then its gone.

swapping samples....getting VST disks from mates....

all these can contain viruses.

AntiVirus is still needed.

Even if you only activate and run a scan once a week.

Thats what i do.

Nod32 is good!

Nod ! probably the best commercial antivirus out there.

its very light on your system with very serious protection.

COmbine that with outpost and you have a system that is very secure and doesnt use to many resooruces.

I use the same partition for muusic and internet( I have another one for online gaming for c&c3 and so forth with tiny xp), I file share a lot, my system is extremely stable, on rare occasion I might restore an image with acronis true image but not as often as i use too years ago, probably about twice a year if that.

best thing to do to protect your system is not download
every crap and dont surf to every crapy website!

because every file (mp3,avi,mpg,jpeg....etc)....can be infected!

anyway....i like AVAST....its free and effective!           www.myspace.com/aliasix

My choice is AVG: free, light and safe.

I also use Zone Alarm as firewall for the same reasons.
