I like FLstudio. Works fine for me. Im so used with it i dont even bather changing to anything else, as i feel i can do whatever i want there and very fast and easy. Regarding sound quality i really doesn't hear any diffrent between daws anymore. It's really up to each and everyone to learn how to make shit sounds tight regardless what daw ur in, cuz they are all pretty much topnotch. I've tried logic and cubase and everything has its own charm.
Just demo the one your most curies on and see if you like it would be my advice for those who are about to pick a daw and get started and cant deside. If you want you can do nice electronic music with all of them. "This daw is better then that" belongs to year 2000 or something.
I've seen alot of intressting shit about ableton though that i find usefull and considering moving over to in a near future.
Thank god for youtube, cuz it was really sucky and slow to learn everything on your own only. (Ye, i pirated my first version.)

All very helpful and informative responses. Thanks again. I d/loaded ableton 8 demo and installed. Man wat the f--k. Lol. I couldnt get started. I think i hav gone too far down the cubase path to start learning a new sequencer. Long time back i started with fl then i switched to cubase vst 24. Ive bn using cubase since then. Cant teach an old dog new tricks lol

I don't understand how people expect to open up a piece of software that takes years to master and just expect it to be completely intuitive...especially when they've been using something else for a long time
That's the first hour of Tom Cosm's fantastic video series, he gives a nice overview of ableton and whatnot
I would suggest that and the manual!
You just described a period in time when you did learn new tricks. You can do it again.
Not that you need to - cubase is fantastic and many people that I highly respect as producers use it.

i own Flstudio Life time license, and other Daw´s, like Ableton and Reaper
i use them all for diferent puporses;
Flstudio is my main Daw when it comes to ideas, composing, midi arrangement
Reaper is my main audio editor and i use it for some other post-production works
i really dont see sequencers having influence on audio quality in the last years, the industry is pretty competitive and ther is many options above the table,
i must say Reaper is for me the most growing DAW at the moment, its still not amazing in terms of midi it still have flaws, but its the only DAW i know that the user can adapt the entire functionality to his workflow; shortcuts,GUI buttons, mouse clicks and tasks
i just wish the midi worked so solid as others, it would be perfect...

BTW, I use two monitors with ableton. I use my big monitor for ableton's main interface and my secondary monitor (my laptop) for VSTs and stuff. Works great.

yeah you can?
When you open a VST, it pops up in a floating window. You can drag that floating window wherever you want.
I have my big monitor set up on a couple of books, and my laptop sits directly below it. The windows pop up on the top monitor when I open up an instance of the VST, and then I drag it down and it sits on my laptop screen.

same here, I got a smaller secondary monitor now too and use it for the plugin windows. Just drag&drop...and its great to have all EQ's open on one screen for comparing and still seeing the session/arrangement window

Theres no better daw today then Cubase ! (For all psy styles in every parameters) , Sure theres others as Protools (More/And best - No1 For all others directions , Rock , Jazz , Ambient , Chill and so , Sure better then Cubase at this parts/Points , In psy Cubase/Nuendo is the top ! . You can use Logic (For dark music) - Got some power , Up to u .

yoko.. you really believe all that?
i find cubase to be great.. but not any better than logic or sonar or studio one. (well i find studio one better than cubase in many aspects)

i love fl studio 10, i also like ableton but l like working with fl studio 10 best, it can do everything i want and sounds the same as all the rest. I love abletons live mode too.
cardinels cartel, if you find you are limited to what music YOU are able to make with each DAW, i would say it was more to do with your skills rather than the daw. they can all do the same thing some way or another, you just have to adjust your methods a little. like the other guys have said, fl studio dosnt sound any diffrent, its the person useing it.

I choose ableton because I can produce + perform with it, and it has unique workflow opportunities that other DAWs can't touch (Racks - I'm looking at you)
A lot of people refer to racks. I almost never use them. Never used a drum rack I always put drums to individual tracks. Never used an instrument rack either. Effect racks I use just to change ping delay for what it is supposed to be , maybe I might use it as a "manual glitch" effect but I find need for this only in special occasion. Where do you use them so much...?

Unbelievable workflow for experiments: Ableton Live all the way.
Complex arrangements: Cubase.
Because of this, I would choose cubase for Psy. For more loopy styles, with less arrangement (techno, electro, dubstep, etc.), Ableton Live all the way.
