Hello to all. Im sure this topic has bn discussed but i really want to hear from ppl who have alot knowledge with either cubase or ableton. Which is better for psytrance creation. Im a cubase user and its only becAuse ive noticed lots of great tutorials in this forum has ableton as its daw. I know this topic is extremely opinionated but thats y i want ppl who really know these programs to respond. Give reasons to support your choice.
Thanx all

I choose ableton because I can produce + perform with it, and it has unique workflow opportunities that other DAWs can't touch (Racks - I'm looking at you)
I know a lot of people produce in cubase or logic and then perform in ableton...but personally I'd rather just stick to one piece of software and know it insideout and backwards then be proficient in two pieces of software.
Also - max4live. Shit is crazy awesome and only getting better.

Thanx wills. What features of cubase ?? Alot of pros use cubase and logic because those daw's hav been around for a longer time. If ableton came out just as early then i strongly believe mor pro's would be using it just as much

the multi track midi editing mostly. and automation curves. sweet, sweet automation curves.
Cosmosis would agree with your point - in one of his videos he says that he uses Cubase because he's been using it since its very first version...but that if he was starting out now or suggesting a DAW to a newcomer it would be Ableton.

I know its very subjective. Thats y i want the reasons ppl choose what they choose. Of course there r demos but i want ppls opinions. As i said ive always used cubase never hav i even installed a demo of ableton. I just feel ableton's popularity is growing and i'v been a little narrow minded and not respecting its capabilities

i use cubase and tried ableton live.
ableton seems kind of toyish in comparison to me and it dont really supports 2 lcd screens (free, dragable windows!).
even if it got fast and easy routing functions, thats not enough... cubase gets better with this too and i simply feel at home there. just make sure you have a good workflow (shortcuts, fast zoom functions, a fader controller etc.)

I use ableton live since version 6 - tried cubase twice and sticked to my ol' live. I totally lost my workflow switching daw, but still i miss some sweet functions from cubase in my fav - as mentioned before, automation curves, nice dual screen.
Usually what id do is to make the song writing and synth works in ableton - then mixing in protools / cubase. Most efficient for me, but guess it's still not that efficient me Progressive Project : http://www.soundcloud.com/out-of-jetlag PsyTrance Project : http://www.soundcloud.com/inner-shade

Thanx for all your input ppl. The dual monitor setup that ableton seems to not allow is something i didnt know about. I will get the ableton demo just to play with and giv me peace of mind.

For ones again :
Theres no better daw today then Cubase ! (For all psy styles in every parameters) , Sure theres others as Protools (More/And best - No1 For all others directions , Rock , Jazz , Ambient , Chill and so , Sure better then Cubase at this parts/Points , In psy Cubase/Nuendo is the top ! . You can use Logic (For dark music) - Got some power , Up to u .
About Fruty .. Well .. Fruty is Fruty .. And/So you can hear all track this is a Fruty song , So this issue/Problem always bother me when hearing F.l works . Some like , Some (Like me) Think this is not 'Real' enough And/So this is an 'Interim daw' for beginners .

i agree that you can hear the FL influence, but it doesnt have to! i blame the mixer..
cubase has been around the longest,
i dont know why i picked ableton ovr it but it should beat cubase in v.9 with automation curves!
i wish wish logic was WIN aswell like b4:(
then id choose that

Cubase in Windows, Logic on Mac.
Ableton is better used for live, yes you can produce with it and its great but its features are more oriented for the live performance... Cubase is a more "industry standard" sequencer and audio editor.
The best DAW is the one that's best for you... I've tried several and Cubase is the one I feel more comfortable with.
Make a track with both and decide.

Watch this video:
Yeah, live is the shit.
BTW, I use two monitors with ableton. I use my big monitor for ableton's main interface and my secondary monitor (my laptop) for VSTs and stuff. Works great.
