if u have lots of cash, i would build this machine (im not including soundcard or any other gear in here):
Athlon 64 FX-53 CPU
MSI K8N Neo 2 motherboard
pair of 512MB Kingston HyperX DDR400
pair of WD Raptor 74GB 10,000RPM SATA HDs
Pioneer DVR-108 16X DVD+/-RW Dual Layer
Antec 4U22ATX550EPX Rackmount w/ 550 EPS
ofcourse, if on a budget you can replace the FX chip with a cheaper A64, the raptors with maxtor sata drives, the rackmount case with a quiet mid-tower/PS and you still have a killer machine for a DAW.
another option (if youre really on a budget) is to get the dell 400sc server.
(although i prefer AMDchips, and the dell has a intel 2.8 p4), ...it is A KILLER DAW for the price.
you can get these for about $300us on ebay and for that THIS THING ROCKS!
just get another HD, and more ram and you have a quiet powerfull DAW. |
