http://www.discogs.com/artist/David+Sylvian

A customer of mine who just happens to be Biosphere's manager ^^ is sending me some music with David Sylvian as a guest artist. That’s all he wanted to tell me. Except that he was the front figure of 'Japan' who was kind of big in the 80's. So I was real curious about whom he is, and of course, if anyone in this fine section knows about his work.

Hit me back,
J-E

PS. If this belongs in the 'Electronica' section, I don't know. So be my guest and move if fit best there.

i like alot classy, melancholic music with great vocals.

he appears also on these two albums i'm familiar with
http://www.discogs.com/release/699727
http://www.discogs.com/release/605922
and i can recommend especially the 2nd one if you like friedman's stuff.

...and yes, electronica is a better section for this topic

if you don't know friedman then here's a "little" starter:

and check out the nonplace record label too.

I listened a lot to Japan in the 80's and later on to his solo albums.
Somehow lost track later on in the 90's.
He is for sure a very good singer/artist and has made some amazing albums.

chck out a cd on virgin recs called Flux and mutabilty. Used to listen to it years ago, wicked chill, 2 tracks I think that are 20mins long each. And another cd i am listening to which he did with Harold Budd, check em out, really beat the pants off a lot of chill being made today.           (`*•.¸(`*•.¸ ¸.•*´)¸.•*´)

Everyone. Thank you so much for your inputs. I really do appreciate it I will try to check out your recommendations Outolintu/fullom, it's always nice to expand ones horizons. Well, I got the CD today, it's a new group from Norway named 'PUNKT' http://www.discogs.com/release/793509 As I can see, David Sylvian contributed his voice to one track, 'Angel'. Again, thanks.

Moderator, feel free to move this topic to the Electronic section
