I think you are right, but I also think this is because of the evolution of music, this sick stuff that you are talking about has to do very much with heavy metal and dark rock... |

well, everyone gets to pick what they personally enjoy, and they get to pick.... FOR THEMSELVES. Dont hope to "turn the masses from the dark path" or smth. U dont like it. Cool. I'm going to tell you what I told someone else on psynews.
FInd what you like, listen to it, ignore what you dont like, and leave my opinions the hell alone!
A word on darkness: Its a matter of perspective. If you really believe in "good and evil" I guess you could call it evil. I however do not believe that humans are equipped to discriminate between the two. WHat is good? Ever see Conan the Barbarian? He has a different idea apparently. Good and evil are labels arbitrarily placed on HUMAN concepts. That does not at all mean that these are NATURAL concepts, IE applying to all of Nature. In some cultures, ritual human sacrifice is considered not only good but a holy duty. Is this bad, just because your culture says it is? If so, by what authority do you get to dictate to another culture how to live their existence? Its things like this that are the reason the Aztecs no longer rule in Mexico.
Hiding your head in the sand wont make Jeffery Dahmer's victims come back, or turn the bones which Ed Gein used to make his furniture back into full human bodies. This is a part of existence whether you wnat to accept it or not. THe djs and artists are not responsible for your hangups, and IMO its selfish and inconsiderate to assume they will accomodate you. Also, IMO, if you dont want to accept it, then you need it more than usual. We all should accept this as part of the world, as it is, not an archaic remnant of Fundamentalist religious "morality". Shit happens. Ignoring the unpleasant wont make it go away. IMO its better to get over it, so you dont feel uncomfortable and stressed, and can actually enjoy it. Ive had a wonderful time at parties which played "dark" trance all night, and everyone was smiling. Its not the music, man! Just as its not LSD's fault someone thought they could fly and jumped off a building, and its not Grand THeft Auto's fault that hundreds of cars are stolen every day. Stop scapegoating and get to the real root of the issue.
If you think that a release is "evil" just because of a name or cover art, well, maybe youd be better off with the cheese crap. At least they wont scare you, make you uncomfortable. Whatever gave you the idea that you're supposed to be comfortable, anyway?
Everyone gets to have their own opinion, thats why they say they're like assholes. Not everyone will agree. Fine. But, imposing your opinion on another is disrespectful, rude, and to me quite offensive. Assuming that anyone, anywhere, has the same opinion as you is like assuming you'll find something you lost, on Mars.
Restricting yourself to only one facet of something so huge is pretty narrowminded IMO. If you only hang out with people who always compliment you no matter what, how can you really know? Ever read the Emperors New CLothes?
Sick, twisted, madness, crazy, evil, whatever you want to call it, just because you call it that does not mean that everyone automatically agrees. In my opinion, if this stuff frightens you, you've got some growing up to do. And it may not be pretty.

great to see so much respectable opinions, boms to you all! But I'm quite shocked seeing poeple saying the Fabrique is dark... have you listened to it?
Otherwise I'm fade up with the "dark" label... I don't feel to be evil listening to some Auraquake, parvati or other enlighted artists producing real freaky-groovy psystomping sonic-medicine. Labels are just for promoting a comercial point of view.... but yes denis you're a devil. ;-)
BoM!
